I tell you right now, if you have the money, get the rec tec. Yes it's more sometimes a lot more than regular pellet grills, but it's worth it. It's sooo much more better than the other grills. I recently bought the Z Grill. So far, I have cooked boneless chicken, turkey breast and a tri tip roast. I have successfully smoked these meats on my propane bbq in the past, but my apartment rules say "electric only," and so I bought the Z Grill. However, the chicken turned out very chewy and the tri tip was ok, but both didn't get the REALLY smokey flavor that I got from my propane bbq. I want MORE smoked flavor, but I don't know if this Z Grill will give it. Any suggestions?😕

I have a cuisinart grill with pellet smoker/propane combo and love it no problems!! Most pellet grills are much the same. Mine came with two temp probes and a heavy duty cast iron griddle and its Bluetooth ready for monitoring your grill through the app. I went with the combo because this way we have options for fueling/cooking. Being that propane fluctuates I felt the smoker is actually more economic then propane if you're patient and have time to cook slow and low. Its like a BBQ crockpot. We all know how good food turns out when its slow cooked. So that's why I went with a combo but all pellet smokers are much the same concept of indirect smoking basically and also you can do a wet smoke to them by soaking a wood chunk in water and placing it on the smoker grates. Also can do a cold smoke as well!!! I love it and smoking is the only way I can cook, my wife is the cook in the house!!

@@LH-jq1lw Fan, igniter and thermocouple. Lid had overbite. Smoke was non existant with any pellets.
@redrider01516 жыл бұрын
@@LH-jq1lw This is because people NEVER want to admit they wasted 1500 - 1800 dollars on a grill. I can tell you there are NUMEROUS issues due to rust. Mine rusted inside the lid and top half of the grill, around the hinges until they broke. I went through a number of igniters over the years. The firebox tray on the older ones all warped. The process to upgrade the firmware is tedious at best (you had to email the company and there was a programmer that was mailed around the country, where you did yours and mailed it to the next guy). There are also issues with the drip pan, as it warps badly over time...its a giant steel pan that sits directly under the bottom cooking surface. All in all there are issues with ALL pellet grills, and they require much more maintenance than say a ceramic smoker/grill. Are the yoders the only ones with these problems, I would say not. If you look at all the pellet grills available, I would bet the Yoder is by far the most solid (its over 300 lbs) and I NEVER had issues with it cooking once it was up to temp....the Traegers and others use a MUCH thinner gauge steel so they dont retain heat and are affected by outside temps for more than the Yoder. Of all the pellet grills I have been around the Yoder was probably the highest quality but the long term is a bit up in the air...I can also say that it cooked FANTASTIC. I never had a bad meal off of the Yoder...except once it started rusting, it dropped rust particles on my food....which was frustrating to say the least. I will be sanding and repainting again this year to see how it goes. To be honest, a cermaic cooker is better IMHO, as its pretty much zero maintenance and cost of ownership is FAR less...both initial cost and long term.
