Great to see a new source of filament for the Canadian market! I would definitely consider purchasing their filament if they ship to the US. The quality and price are a perfect balance. I can only see PrintedSolid Jessie PLA being competitive on price. AtomicFilament's PLA is usually my go-to but that is about $30 USD a roll for a kg.

Interesting. Nice to see this presentation get to a little more depth. Drying the filament after spooling seems like a step some filament makers skip, at least their walk throughs didn't show it, they packaged right away. I've had old rolls of PLA snap, perhaps they've crystallized a bit too much over the years...

Unfortunatly most of what i recorded in the production area turned out to be unusable due to noise, thus the interview became the main focus with the floor footage being b-roll. Im actually planning to go back and make some filament real time using a smaller sized machine they use for test batches of filament, so stay tuned for a follow up

you mentioned your mic and adjusting levels in your livestream tonight, I think the audio is pretty darn good in this. I mean youtube already compresses audio and stuff to 128kbps last I knew.

The best/highest quality filament I have personally used is Prusament. How would this PLA compare or stack up against the higher end quality filaments on the market from your personal perspective? Would love to support a fellow Canadian company

I havent used prusament myself, i have used two spools so far and it prints well, and ive had no issues at all to report, nice colours too.

They both have the hexagon pattern on the spools. and prusament is good i have only used a spool of petg and I might be a little biased because it was made on one of my friend’s birthdays but given that you use the correct profiles it prints good.

If it is good PLA the price is actually competitive, isn't it? I only know of Sunlu (a bit cheaper) and Creality Filament (sometimes 11.5€ per kg) from Aliexpress, which is cheaper. And I bet some people would pay for the bigger roll. I expected it to be more expensive because the product line didn't look like massive throughput. In Germany, some stores sell average stuff for 30€/kg

You saw it is in CAD and not USD correct? If I did my math right, per kg it costs $21.13 USD. So really it isn't that expensive at all.

Correct, price is in CDN$, and also each spool is 600m of filament (1.8kg of PLA) It works out to be pretty dang competitive against our current offerings up here.

And this is why no matter what you spend on a DIY filament maker, it'll never meet the quality of what this machine puts out. It's not just a matter of melting and spooling plastic - it's a complicated mix of physics and science.
