After a year and a half in my new house, I have gotten to know my neighborhood deer, and one of them, Susie, loves to have me scratch her. All the other deer are too shy, but Susie’s sister Zoe always watches when I scratch Susie. Finally, after all this time, Zoe got up the courage to give human touch a try.
For those concerned, our local deer have been hanging out around humans for about 40 years. They are very cautious with strangers, and because hunting is not allowed where our local deer wander, their major concern is coyotes and mountain lions.

Way of life. Prey have to always keep a look out for predators. kinda like hide in seek but if you get tagged then you die. Wolves need to eat to tho so cant really blame them. Wolf population has been steady tho. Never been large but over the last few years it hasnt been dropping much(American Wolves). Human also haev a side like this, as in if you hear a loud noise you will abviously look at it. And when its dark and you hear something you would run or look around. That how they are mentally which keeps the animals alive.

It's about removing the fear of humans first off. Secondly mule deer are infested with ticks. . .great idea to introduce a large population of ticks to your yard as well. It's not fair to the animals at all. . . You're not helping you're harming them.

So many were killed from the speeder drivers. Gotten so busy where we lived in the last twenty years. I luv deer, they used to cone and fed on my rise bushes and apples but nothing this year. They’re gone. 😢. Thank you for your ch@nnel and the luv for these animals. I supp@rted and subscr1bed. Thank you.

W Jack Sorry to burst the bubble, but deer corn is actually pretty bad for deer. Corn in general isn’t good for them, and it can possibly lead to medical issues. I recommend just trying to give them greens, like lettuces, but I’m not an expert so you should probably research what vegetables are good for them. :)

I'm surprised that you didn't get negative feed back with this, but I can relate. I too have a local population of deer and for the most part, it's the does that are the calmest around me, but I have not had physical contact. If you have deer, then you probably feed them and if you do, you know about fleas! I put about a 1/2 cup of food grade diatamatious earth in about a gallon of food once a month and that really helps with their flea problem. It really has a dramatic affect and you can tell in a couple of days that they aren't flicking and scratching like before. It's safe and given to horses for the same reason. I also collect apples for free from a local fruit farm (on the ground apples) and they enjoy them.

I have deer that hang out on my property regularly, but never close enough to touch. I don't feed them or anything. They just like hanging out here. They know I'm not going to be a threat to them, and are pretty chill, as long as there's 20~30 yards distance between us. There was a neighbor who used to feed them, before he passed away. The deer would know it was feeding time, because they recognized the sound of his truck coming up the drive when he was coming home.

Great video! I used to live in deer country and sometimes I would come face to face with them on my walks when coming around a bend in the road. When that happened, I found it was always best to avert my eyes away from theirs and show no interest in them. In fact, the last time I did that I walked right passed the deer and then turned around about 25 yards away and saw that the deer had stopped in his tracks and was looking back and watching me walk away. It was almost like the deer was saying to himself, "what the fuk is up with that guy?"
