Only just seen this video. What an effort, but why race which leads to tumbles! Mt Rintoul looked seriously steep on downhill 😮. Stunning views, great photography and effort

Yes Mt Rintoul was pretty steep! Keeping going to beat the weather - it’s snowing here in Tekapo today!

Nice one Jared, Great video. Brings back memories of when I was culling for Nelson NZFS from Slaty down to Captains Hut back in 1984. We used to work between the huts and usually stayed in the bush for a month at a time. We were culling mainly goats but we shot the odd fallow deer and wild pig for camp meat. And the odd trout and eel. Some large eels in the Pelorus.

Have donated $10 towards your efforts--not much but every little helps. Stay safe and keep on trucking.

You are a machine Jared! That Pelorus River must be one of the most beautiful in the country. I was impressed by the state of the huts and route marking, but the "track" is definitely sketchy. Quite a lot of wind throw to get through, and some really exposed sections in bad weather. Those poles will give an indication of what the route will be like in winter! Are you seeing many Te Araroa walkers coming from the south?
@onthetrailnz Жыл бұрын
Yes the Pelorus River was beautiful. Yeah there were some real dodgy parts on the track, but a beautiful part of the country. There’s a few northbounders coming up, but definitely a lot more people going south! Thanks for watching.

Too bad about all the fires and the Myrtle rust virus destroying this whole area. Sadly it's all just desert now so don't bother coming folks.

It was a tough part of the trail, but the views were pretty good.

@@onthetrailnz Sadly not so much anymore. I'd recommend people stay away unfortunately.
