Pelosi’s controversial Taiwan trip splits Taipei residents, world reactions

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan late on Tuesday, starting a visit that Beijing had warned her against taking, saying it would undermine Sino-U.S. relations. This trip is a part of Pelosi’s Asia tour that included visits to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan.
Leading up to her controversial visit, supporters and critics have been vocal about her highly-anticipated visit, from both within Taiwan and abroad.
Outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel, where the U.S. House Speaker is staying, a group of demonstrators against Pelosi's visit stomped on a U.S. flag and a banner depicting her.
Meanwhile, other Taipei residents have had more of a mixed reaction, with some students saying that “Pelosi’s visit should be a good thing for us,” while others believed that “the visit won’t have any real benefit, in the end we are just a chess piece in someone else’s game.”
In Beijing, foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters during a news briefing that "we hope that the U.S. officials will clearly understand the importance, sensitivity and danger of this issue." Moscow has also expressed their support for Beijing, saying that “we consider the settlement of the situation in the Taiwan Strait to be an internal matter for China.”

The vast majority of chinese inside and immigrant in other countries have always thought in the same way about taiwan and china relations, taiwan having autonomy both in terms of government and military is fine, the only thing that they are not fine with is secession, the mainland was even willing to have representatives from the taiwanese government in beijing to smooth relations, taiwan didn't have any real threat of china of actually invading because the consensus of the people is that they are not willing to do military actions against it until they actually secede, until they actually change the taiwanese constitution, because in their constitution they are considered part of china and that is, for now, enough for china, reunification is rhe goal but a goal with no set date, it may be tomorrow it may be years it may be at the end of the life on earth, as long as it's not never

Chang has a more clear perspective on the taiwan-US relationship. US loves seeing conflicts between countries especially this kind, similar to korea and almost Vietnam. Her visit to taiwan only bring negative impact on taiwan. One China policy has two situational interpretations, purely diplomatic at the UN and US perspective. If you say "its own" then the US has not circumvented its own China policy. It should be clear that the ambiguity is not in whether the US considers Taiwan a part of China; the USA clearly states that it recognizes the Chinese claim that Taiwan is a part of China. (Hint: acknowledge--to recognize the claim or authority of) At the UN, the TRA is a product of a legislative branch so is not a diplomatic document. The UN simply will not consider the TRA, only the Communiques, so at the UN Taiwan is simply unequivocally a part of the PRC.
