Hi Steve, really informative videos! Thank you. I think I am going to go the budget route, one question I have is regarding the cadence sensor. The IC300 is advertised as being able to record rpm, so I was wondering what the benefits are of fitting a cadence sensor? Thanks very much and happy new year.

The 300 Pro is in my top 5 bikes I’m currently looking at, it’s at the top end of my budget if I’m honest but for what it offers I think it’s worth it. A couple of observations: 1. the IC300 pro (which is what you had) is now £449 on Amazon (boo!). 2. the cadence sensor that comes with the bike is pretty accurate and pretty much reads the same as the Wahoo sensor. 3. the bike computer also offers a distance reading (rpms x flywheel circumference I suppose) which is brilliant for the company charity competition!

Great video Steve. Would really appreciate your thoughts on the new JLL IC350 PRO in terms of spec on paper. There doesn't seem to be much difference between it and other recent versions apart from the flywheel. The IC350 PRO is a lot lighter - "7kg/15lbs Two Way Flywheel". A lot less than both the IC300 PRO and the IC400 ELITE at 20kg...both of which are cheaper! Do you think that makes it a model to avoid? Seems like a more expensive yet compromised option. My paranoia is saying they've launched a worse bike for more money while the others are out of stock to capitalise on demand in this latest lockdown. I'm new to all this though so would be great to get thoughts.
@SteveJulien3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Strange that it’s more with a smaller flywheel. I don’t know much about the 350 but I would say unless it’s using an improved way to get the most out of a small flywheel. I would go for the biggest you can get. From my limited knowledge, larger flywheels are smoother with better resistance and feel.

@@harriet3542 hi. don't buy the 400pro. I had 2 and sent them both back. both made whirring noises from the bearing from the start and one of the magnets on one was very brittle and bits fell off onto the belt which got embedded in and made a grinding noise. also the set up is awful because with the magnet fully off, on both bikes, I could barely turn the pedals. I had to remove 2 magnets on each one to allow me to cycle up to 100rpm and I am 70kg and fairly fit. I couldn't get the cadence up otherwise. the bike has really good adjustment though. I now have a Body Power SPIC 20. its not magnetic but is lovely to look at and is friction based. its much better but unfortunately I have a clicking now on the right somewhere at high resistance which could be a dodgy pedal. everything seems tight so looking into that now. I think I've been unlucky. I am going to sell my wahoo speed and cadence sensors as I don't really need them. this bike doesn't have Bluetooth but I use my fitbit for heart rate and the bike has cadence on it and am using KZbin spin classes for the moment. hope that helps.

Hi Steve, thanks for the video. I’m having some issues with the resistance of the bike. In particular, the interval from minimum to maximum resistance is really not overwhelming and even at maximum resistance I don’t have to put a lot effort to cycle, although the resistance remains constantly hard so it gets tiring as I cycle. Did you have the same experience? Can it be just my bike maybe? Also I think the biggest issue is that basically at maximum resistance the brake doesn’t work and the bike keeps spinning. Cheers!
@SteveJulien3 жыл бұрын
On either the IC300 or Peloton bike, max resistance should mean you can’t really move the pedals (or can with extreme difficulty) from a standing start. I’m a fairly good climb rider and I never got to max on either bike. If you're not feeling the resistance get more when you turn the knob, it sounds like the bke isnt quite set up right and maybe the magnet isnt getting closer enough to the wheel. Hope that helps!

Thanks Steve! That’s definitely not the case for me with the IC300 Pro, might be a defect or something? Can I ask you if you changed the position of the magnets at all with the JLL? Thanks a lot

Steve Help me to decide which bike to get please. It's either the 300 pro, or the 400 pro. Are there big differences in terms of footprint? Is the 400 worth the extra money?
@SteveJulien3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jermaine, The IC300 pro more than met my needs and exceeded my expectations. If you’re a really powerful person, the 400 pro with the 22kg (I think) flywheel might be the one for you but I haven’t checked costs lately. You should be able to compare specs side by side on the JLL site.
@jermainespence70743 жыл бұрын
@@SteveJulien it's a shame I didn't think to buy a bike before the pandemic, as the price has gone up by £100. I'm not a powerful cyclist so will probably go for the 300 pro. Just hope there isn't anything I'll be missing by not getting the 400. 1 more thing, is the Wahoo cadence device easy to install? Thanks for replying
@SteveJulien3 жыл бұрын
A few people have said that the IC300 has a built in cadence sensor. I never used it (didn’t know it had it) but this will save you £30. If you do get one though, it’s super simple to fit.

Thanks for this , really useful. I’ve had the 300 Pro recommended and already have a Peloton Digital subscription but use it for the fitness vids. Regarding your phone, was that just placed on the screen? Is it stable? And do you need the cadence sensor , what would I lose by not having one?
@SteveJulien3 жыл бұрын
Great. I just used a bit of blu Tak but you can buy a holder. Full details of the cadence sensor I used in the video but people have said the bike comes with one built in anyway. If you don’t use one, you’ll just have it guess your cadence.

Hi Steve, just come across your channel Unfortunately the JLL IC300 advertised now on Amazon (JLL IC300 2021) is chain driven, not belt driven and retails at £329.00. The JLL IC300 PRO is belt driven and retails at £439.99 I am lost with all the bikes out there. Is there one you would recommend for £350.00 and under. Hope you can help Kieran Bournemouth

Hey mate I'm finding it hard to find a spin bike that's got at least an 18kg flywheel and magnetic resistance. Do you have any others that you recommend? I'm looking to spend up to £350 but most of the selection on Amazon doesn't seem great and Argos don't deliever anything to my area. All I can see is the JLL IC200 Pro but that only has a 7kg flywheel. I checked out the Sunny health bikes on Amazon but sadly I'm not sure when they'll be restocked and I really want to start soon! Any help would be great!

Hi. Slightly confused. I went on the JLL website and the ic300 is £329, but it has chain drive and is not magnetic. The ic300 PRO does have belt drive and is magnetic, but is £429. Is this video about the ic300 PRO or ic300. If it’s about the PRO has the price really gone up £100.

Hi Steve. Very interesting and informative video(I have subscribed because of that) 😁👍. But that price rise is just pure profiteering from these companies. No one should attack companies for making money, but profiting from a global pandemic ???🤮🤮🤮

I was looking for a simpler version of the bike. Been using the peloton app with my old cheapish bike since lockdown started (bike is almost 3 years old) and the pedal snapped sheer off it :( I would love to buy the bike but as someone who uses a mix of the bike/strength/hit classes, the jump to £40 subscription is silly to me so I wanted a cheaper bike and ended up ordering the JLL! One question the JLL ic3000 pro shows the RPM on the wee screen so do I still need to get a cadence sensor?
