Another great video, Steve! I have 300 rides on my non- Peloton bike and love it. It’s got magnetic resistance and displays cadence on its little screen. Using my iPad with the Peloton app, I use the Echo app on my phone to pair with my Apple Watch to display my heart rate. I just recently swapped the cage petals with clip in pedals/cycling shoes and get a much more even push/pull feel. Perceived exertion is exactly how I figure out the resistance level during a class. A grittyish flat road that feels stable when I get out of the saddle is a 40 in my mind and every complete revolution of the resistance knob adds/subtracts about 10. I sometimes get Pelo envy, but my bank account never has. 😁I feel I have gotten just as fit and healthy with my setup as I would’ve if I had an actual Peloton. But every time they have a sale, I do consider it. Haha Thanks again for the informative videos.

I’ve been using the Peloton app with the Wahoo sensors for nearly a year. I set it up on my old Reebok Studio Spin bike that I bought 15 years ago (top of the line back then - no metrics, we had early fitness watches that kept heart rate - everything else was music dependent). I set up the cadence and heart rate sensors in the Peloton app, but I use the Wahoo app on my phone to keep track of the distance, which the app doesn’t do. Keeping track of the distance is important to me, because I compete in distance challenges, so I bought the Wahoo speed sensor as well. It takes quite a bit of tweaking to make it work on a spin bike, but after a lot of fiddling, I think I’ve got my speed setups done quite well now. I don’t miss anything from not having an actual Peloton. 😁

Thanks for the video dude, I've started using the Peleton app and have been trying to decide whether to just upgrade to a better spin bike than the squeaky cheapo I've got or to go for the actual Peleton bike itself. It would be great if you were able to do a similar video on treadmills that are *almost* comparable and usable with the tread workouts. Ideally I'd like to get both in my home gym but definitely can't justify the costs for both Peleton items.

Hello Steve. Great videos. Very helpful. Can i ask: regarding the Labgrey v JLL IC300 PRO - What would be your personal preference? Would you say the Jll is more sturdy? Also - did the handle bars have any wobble on yours please? Thank you

Love this video, Steve. Since watching & looking for an L1, I see they now make an L3 which has Bluetooth. Would you consider this a better option?? Thanks Chris.

No problem, I just wanted to ask watched your L1 & JLL IC300 reviews & wasn't sure which way to go. L3 very similar to L1 but now has Bluetooth & can link to Zwift & Kinomap. But wasn't sure if was better or worse than an L1 with Wahoo Sensors. Appreciate the reply, very kind of you indeed.

I’ve watched a few of your videos. You present the info so well, and don’t pad out the videos with stupid graphics and Gifs. I like the idea of the peloton, but the price is just too much. I might try your idea of using a cadence sensor on a cheaper bike. I just don’t like fudging the resistance. I tried this previously with Apple fitness on the treadmill. I never knew if I was pushing enough. Is there any bikes that would be easier to Match the resistance to the peloton ?

Is the lab grey bike good for a starter? I have recently sustained a running injury and I’m looking for an alternative to running. Is this type of workout as good as running?

?Great video - you've given me some great ideas for a home set up. I've been looking at the Labgrey and the JLL bikes. Are these bikes built to last when used several times a week? I've read reviews for both JLL and Labgrey bikes that mention issues that make me a little concerned (parts breaking, pedals coming off, poor customer services). Are they built to last when used regularly!?!?

Thanks! The JLL IC300 pro is a great choice if you have the extra budget. It has a heavier flywheel and magnetic brake but is 50% more. Link in video description.

Hi Steve. Have been running a DIY version for a year - JLL 400pro, with a TV wall mounted. Considering a pel+ bike. Having used both, do you think its worth changing setups?
@SteveJulien3 жыл бұрын
It’s a tough one! Both my DIY Peloton and Hydrow set ups just lead me towards buying the real thing which I like better. I would leave the TV on the wall though, as you can use a just ride feature on the PB+ and use Apple fitness, YT and other services as well.

I gotta know what happened to the Tred!
@joyceperry95613 жыл бұрын
I noticed the tread is not in the picture. I brought a tread and sadly I’m returning it, in fact they are coming today for the pickup. I felt unsafe with the amount of shaking with the top portion. They did come out on a service call, but still shakes. if I have to hold on when walking, I just can’t. If Steve did return, I hope he can recommend a replacement, until then will continue to use by bike.

I assembly and repair exercises equipment for a big company. We do peloton and bowflex and every other brand out there. If you pay for your machine to be assembled it's the company I work for that puts it together. We also do all the warranty repairs on this equipment. I say this because of the amount of repairs I do. DO NOT BUY A PELOTON BIKE. Peloton bike repairs make up 6 out of 10 repairs I do every week. The biggest issue is the center assembly for the pedals.
