Will there be a comparison video between these and the ops core amp?
@ReconBrothers15 күн бұрын
Hi, we're not planning on that. We've sold the Ops-Core amp for a while when we were still in Belgium and almost all devices got returned due to malfunctions. We're very skeptical about Ops-core products in general.

@@ReconBrothers ok thank you there’s so many different options out there and not a lot talk about the negatives of them or the poor experiences.

@@plproductions8887 Amps are great with nfmi and if they work. The problem with them are the failure points like the mic, the amp arms where they attach to the helmet, the springs being too strong they want to pop out of the gimbals where they are attached to the headset, if using peltors on amp arms the spring tension is too strong squishing your gel cups, general headset sounds like hissing and static, last but not least its corrosion especially when your in a very hot and humid environment say the pacific. A lot of amps have been rma’d for such cases. If you want peltors buy Vs, if your guys have VI or VII buy VIs for the NIB and MAP. People still run IIIs to this day!
@ReconBrothers15 күн бұрын
@plproductions8887 Yes, exactly! The thing is that each of these products are expensive and aqcuiring them all + testing them and than having the tools to make videos about them costs a lot of time and money. Biggest disadvantage of the ComTac VII is its runtime and cost. ComTac XPI's began having issues with their motherboards lately but are now replaced by the ComTac VIII. With Sordin we have the least warranty cases thus far, but they have the least features. That's pretty much our general experience thus far.

Hmmm is there any point in buying XPI's now? I heard they are discontinued anyways. There's also so little reviews and information availabe on 8's, so i don't what to think of those. The Germans ordered like 191k of them so i guess they are a worthy upgrade from xpi's.
@ReconBrothers9 күн бұрын
They're indeed discontinued and are replaced by the ComTac VIII now. It's also known that the latest ComTac XPI's had issues with their motherboards which does give them another year of extra warranty, but we're not sure how PELTOR will replace them when there's a warranty issue. So, we can only recommend to not buying those any longer.

The wireless connection will be jammed by electronic warfare rendering it useless. Even HF radios have there troubles right now. I rather have the ginormous pain of dealing with a bunch of wires that actually work than paying 2-3k on a system that can do all these cool things on the range and in my bedroom but leave me when my life depends on it. The review was good and I appreciate you doing the hard work of doing all the testing for us!
@arog749315 күн бұрын
Wouldn't the actual radio you're communicating with also be jammed in the event of any electronic warfare/jamming? So what difference would it make?
@ReconBrothers15 күн бұрын
Both very solid points, but you also have to realize there are far more applications than just all out grand-scale warfare. There are far more direct action operations being done by units against criminals, terrorists and what not where such jamming risks are not applicable. This technology could make the work of such guys easier and less problematic, especially in confined space missions. Plus, in case of actual jamming, there's always ways of signaling to fall back to.

Of course for most brands its the government its not even that they can afford it they generally get such a discount that there is very little profit on one item and most governments don’t buy gear in the millions its ammo, AFVs, Artillery, planes and missiles they spend most money on a lot of purchases are from within units, but the prestige it comes with is important. Its weird because 99% soldiers won’t know the difference between aliexpress gear and the real deal but there is that assumption

It’s cool, but it seems like a perfect target for drones that can home into whatever protocol they’re using
@ReconBrothers12 күн бұрын
You may be right, but remember that the range of its wireless feature is only about 30-50 cm. So, already pretty hard to track (e.g. if you put the SCU at a wrong angle the headset doesn't even connect). Also a bit of a bold claim by backing it up with "whatever protocol they're using". Not very scientific, is it? 🙃
@cxsey858711 күн бұрын
@I don’t have to be scientific, if it’s emitting a wireless signal it can be sniffed. Bluetooth, zigbee, z wave, wifi, whatever. A sensitive enough receiver can pick up those signals,
@ReconBrothers11 күн бұрын
@@cxsey8587 Well that's where you are wrong, if you make a claim, you at least should try to support it instead of stating "whatever protocol they're using" which would come down to anything, even radio frequencies. Also we know drones are a big thing right now, but there are still a lot of applications where there is no risk of drones. And as mentioned the headset itself can't function if the SCU is at a wrong angle, so how sensitive does the drone need to be in order to catch up on this from wherever it is.
