This 71-year-old man fractured his pelvis and clavicle seven months ago. His range of motion, mobility, strength, and stability has significantly improved. He needs to perform challenging exercises to maximize his dynamic stability for the lumbopelvic-hip girdle and legs. The difficulty of the step-back lunge increases with the utilization of strobe eyewear to disrupt his vision.
The majority of the research and clinical commentary on the use of strobe eyewear for knee rehabilitation has been done with ACL patients. The research has been investigating neuroplasticity for visual-motor training.
The clinical reasoning is
❌ Disrupted afferent input
❌ Altered proprioception
❌ Altered efferent output
❌ Change in postural control
❌ Change in movement control
The change in movement control relies on visual feedback to maintain neuromuscular control. Treatment with strobe eyewear is utilized for visual-motor training with criterion-based exercise progressions.
As always - train both legs!
Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based, not time-based.

Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. STOP exercising if you experience any symptoms of weakness, unsteadiness, light-headedness/dizziness, chest pain or pressure, nausea, or shortness of breath.
Performing these exercises should not cause pain. If you experience pain while exercising, decrease the speed of your movement. If the pain persists - STOP. Mild soreness after exercising may be experienced after beginning a new exercise.

Don’t be depressed. He made a full recovery. Be patient and follow a criterion-based rehab system. You can achieve your goals! Don’t quit.

@@manovarshini7708 If by a full squat you mean butt touching your heels, it is largely variable on location of the fracture. That said, it could take 4 to 8 months.

Hi. He's really doing amazing! At 71-years-old, he's able to perform exercises many struggle with who are 20+ years younger. His commitment to his home exercises, and his fitness level before the injury are very big factors in his excellent recovery. If you put in the work, the results will follow! Hi. Sorry to hear about your injury. The first step is to get a thorough assessment from a physical therapist/physiotherapist. Every injury is different, and every individual will have unique considerations. The first phase of rehab is to decrease pain, restore range of motion (ROM), and begin gentle strengthening and lumbopelvic (core) stabilization. In phase 2, the exercises involve more advanced strengthening and stabilization exercises. Have you started with physical therapy/physiotherapy?

@@EvolvePhysicalTherapy yes sir phystherapist coming daily and what ever excersie u recommended kn above msg that is going on..after 12 weeks Now I am just started walking with help of walking-aid.but feeling slight stress in pubic symphysis surgery plate. So my question is it normal ? and what are precautions I have to take in coming months.? Plz sujest 🙏

@@subhrajitdas1990 We need to know more information to make recommendations. Also, if you have a quality physiotherapist, they will best assist you. Trust your physiotherapist and know your recovery will take another 6 to 9 months. You should see improvements every 10-14 days. Don't quit, and believe in yourself!

@@subhrajitdas1990 Hi. If you have been inactive from the injury, surgery, and pain, you will have lost significant strength, stability, and endurance. It only takes ~ 2 weeks to lose considerable strength from bed rest. To return to your pre-injury/pre-surgery status, may take greater than 1 year. Strength and endurance can't be rebuilt in a matter of days, it will take months. A great environment to start with initially may be the pool for aquatic exercise. Ask your physical therapist if you are a candidate for aquatherapy/hydrotherapy.
