Beautiful and lovely talk. Great that she stresses the importance of self compassion and broadening that compassion to others. Also that she stresses to do so at your own level of capacity. I thank God for Pema her example shines brightly.❤

Pema, love your outfit❤ I keep your book “Start Where You Are” in my where are you going bag. I am reading a second time, because I knew it had knowledge, I wasn’t ready for when I purchased, and read. Love always.

Addictions and poverty just stink. This buddhism helps a lot. What if I just can't stand my life circumstances and myself? And all I think I can do is jump in the car and go binge or eat stuff that comforts me, albeit harmful (?). I just can't stand the discomfort 😢 I see what she's saying, but I think an addict's biology is way more challenging. Sometimes I wish I could afford a $100 back massage everyday and it would help me love myself more. Calm myself and get the endorphins and human touch I need. So many of us need so much more than what we are able to manifest. 😔🙏🏻

Where do we as humans get this idea that happiness lies in everything positive and good etc? There must be some sort of root cause.

OK. Pema's ultimate teaching on Pain and Compassion. Young girls at Shambala were in a lot of pain and Pema Chodron showed them no compassion. Pema observed Shambala teachers inflicting pain, torture, rape, murder by HIV on people and showed no compassion. That's how she really teaches.
