PEMBERTON ABANDONED | AUSWEST TIMBERS | WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Timber has been milled for more than a century in Pemberton and Manjimup in WA’s south.
This Auswest mill was closed in late 2016. I could have spent all day here, there was just so much equipment left behind including a mechanics workshop full of tools.
Definitely check it out if you're ever exploring down that way!

Unfortunately as of 9/12/22 a fire ripped through the main building of this timbermill destroying most of what you see in the video. Thankful that I was able to document it before it went up in flames.

As of April 2024 onwards, the entire green processing centre has since been totally deconstructed, and site crews have undertaken thorough cleaning up. Thank you for documenting this, as it is now a historically significant resource. For what the site looked like as the final day, the mill workers finished their last morning shift, for ever.

I remember this mill. It was a Bunnings timber mill. Back in the day there was a small loco with a Rolls Royce Diesel engine that pulled the loaded rail wagons up to Pemberton Railway Station to be attached to trains on their way to Perth. I was a railway guard stationed at Manjimup. Thanks for the memory.
