We visited there in 2018 while on holiday staying near Tenby. What an impressive castle and the birth place of the Tudor Dynasty. I didn't know about the staircase down to the river though, interesting.

Home of Margaret Beaufort, and king Henry the 7th birthplace. Jasper Tudor lived here as well, he had keys to the castle.

Thanks, I did the Kidwelly one a few years ago. That one was quite cheap to enter and many like Llansteffan, are free. (Kidwelly castle makes a brief appearance at the start of Monty Python and the Holy Grail film.

Visited Prembroke Castle today. It is really interesting and includes a free tour guide around the castle. There is so much history that started in Pembroke Castle, think most impressive i have seen in Wales so far. Prices have gone up to £11 now, though.

Another interesting video. I visited Pembroke castle back in the 80's with my parents and stood on top of the keep. Not sure if that would be allowed in today's health and safety conscious society we live in today. I remember the keep being full of pigeons too.
