My dad passed away 7 years ago today after being sick for 3 short weeks with stage 4 cancer. It was a terrible time and hard past 7 years. The reason for me telling you is because we actually used poinsettias to decorate the funeral home, gigantic ones, then smaller ones for the tables at the repast so family members could take one with them to have for the holidays. To me, this painting tutorial was a special gift to help with this day. I am so thankful for you Lindsay 😊

Shout-out to that Bic 0.9 in yellow! (Edit: lol I have the exact same one plus a few other colors, that's why I got excited.) They're not great for extended use if you have a tight grip on thin pencils (like me), but they are perfectly functional and those cheap basic refill erasers work if you cut them down to size. I enjoyed this video; as always the suggestions are much appreciated. I'm not painting along, unfortunately, but I did end up participating kinda! ☺ I wasn't sure what to doodle so I tried free-handing my own poinsettia onto the back of an index card. I tried making the bottom leaves look droopy from gravity but it ended up looking wonky instead. Then I realized it looked like arms with pointy hands so I decided to transform the design into a little poinsettia flower troll critter! I made the true flower on the bottom of the cluster bigger and turned it into a head by adding a cute, simple face and two small leaves on either side as ears, so the Poinsettia "flower" looks like a big, fancy, silly hat or crown! Ok most like a Mardi Gras headdress lol. Then I gave it a little vest with buttons, which the leaf arms stick out of, a long generic flower-petal skirt, and some curled seed pod/elf boots. I also created a little vine tail, ending in another round flower at first but I quickly turned it into another leaf instead. That seemed more troll-tuft like to me. Unfortunately, I drew my poinsettia troll creature so tiny that accidental tangents are hard to avoid with all of the veins lol. It's super cute so I'll probably try some simple rendering a little later. I might draw it some more too but figuring out what it would look like from other angles is going to be a bit of a challenge. And I've described it so much because I'm hoping other artists might want to draw their own version! Anyway, thank you for inspiring me, Lindsay!

Very nice. I wish I lived where I could attend your live class at the library. I tried to watch this twice and both times for some reason the “advertiser” seemed to be some kind of European made soap opera subscription lol. Both were modern takes on Cinderella in which Cinderella was not so nice herself lol. Each time Si got caught up and watched about 5 mins before I came out of my trance and went back to your tutorial lol. I haven’t seen that on any of your other tutorials or any one else’s tutorials. Who knows…

I launched the class at 50% off in October (it pays to snag my classes when I launch them because they are at the lowest price ever, i relaunch the holiday class when i add to it each year, thats why thats on sale) so I don't have plans to put it on sale again for a while. Please subside to my KZbin channel, blog and newsletter to know when I have a sale or class discount. I aim to pack each class with plenty of content, even at full price:)

I think the PWC and SWC lines are a fabulous buy! They sell open stock 15ml tubes for $6 in some stores. I have a review of the colors in the 32 set. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmqvZpWnjcd4d5osi=UJdJf9SZaSEryqAP and I recommend them. They have another lime named "professional" that isn't as good as the pwc/swc but it's not bad. I have a review of that too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKm1XoKiqLOmhbssi=2Y0RGIeNI49wd6U1 There's probably more than you want to know in those 2 videos 😆 🤣 😂

Have you ever tested out Ferris Wheel Press Inks? Love their colors would really like seeing you use some with your honest view point? Do love the look got one bottle "Ruby Royal Flush" and a sketchbook you suggested. Was interesting (I'm not skilled) thought would be awesome if someone printed on quality paper pre-printed pages to ink to test techniques with QR code to link to a tutorial as I'm not great at anything right now lol recovering from illness (hope you're Dad is doing better). Something printed on quality cold press high grade (prefer nothing made by slavery) sketchbook paper pre-printed or even maybe carbon paper to rub on the page? Idk saw it in my head having hard time getting that across. Love using inks and especially love Ferris Wheel Press Inks yet, couldn't really find many artists like yourself using them in a way that was helpful ink tips. Would love to hear you thoughts and honest review from your perspective if you consider that? Thank you for sharing and inspiring for all these years. God bless to you and yours. *My grandmother passed away few years ago she loved these flowers. Made me smile.
