PEN = Professional freelancer - Clean, quick, controlled. BRUSHPEN = Hobbyist - Instagram artist, Sometimes a bit messy, Outstanding results. BRUSH = That one kid that was always alone, hard to socialize with. But when you gain his trust, and he shows you his artbook... You are blown away with the expression/emotion he shows trough his art. Brush is clear winner imo.

Winner: Brush Why: The brush is an artistic essential, it has been used for thousands of years not for no reason, it is diverse, satisfying to use, has a really nice feel to it, and the feeling of spacing out while painting and getting comfortable from the repeating dipping and expressing yourself on the canvas is really nice, plus I have always been a fan of the old school traditional methods, I have tried pens, brushpens, markers and so on but nothing ever felt for me like painting with a brush or drawing with a pencil, in my opinion those two are the best

Actually the myth busters made a episode on this, and actually a knife is quicker than a gun at a fight. Obviously gun has a longer range, but before you can aim and shoot you most likely already have been stabbed. I also loved the brush, and I think it's undisputed winner. And military guy as well as the cyberlady both had guns on them, when brush wielded his instrument like a sword.

They're all useful in their respective purposes and will look great when used properly or hot garbage if not. One can always shade with a regular pen and create gradients with a brush pen too, while brushes may be harder to control for others. Real useful tool is the one you master to use.

I like how the brush pen one is more bold, and so it allows for illustrations to really pop and it can kinda give off a glossy finish. But the brush however is just super versatile, you can do more than just draw with it, he just flicked it to create special effects

I wrote this comment as a reply already, but I just wanted to re-say it. From a line art standpoint, I’d say the brush is the worst. It takes a lot more effort to put down each line, and you have to be extra careful to not let too much ink run everywhere. The other two are way more reliable and easy. But, for a finished illustration using just one tool, the brush is a clear winner. I think that it’s a _little_ unfair how the brush was used to fully render the drawing, but hey, it’s just for fun, and Jazza never said it was a line-art-only video :)

This! Like any tool it depends on the project. I'm considering getting the pen for my other half because he's a tattoo artist and I think he'd really love the control over line weight with that clean finish. The brush appeals to me because I like a more organic, flowing shape and that tonal variation when I'm using traditional media (digitally I tend to use the eraser to vary the line weight for a more visually engaging look)

@@pheenix135 sometime after writing this comment I got the Fudenosuke pen, and now it’s my favorite pen ever. It gives an INSANE amount of control, and replaces all my other fineliners 😅 that being said, there are times when the other two are way better; it’s just nice to use a standard old brush. Not only to mention painting in general. I don’t use brush pens as much, but man are they satisfying to write with for fun

I wrote a comment about this as my opinion.. so combination of brush pen and brush would be perfect choice for me.. I believe brush pen is the best option for drawing part because of brush diping needs and brush for doing shading effects you can combine it with the water.. Best for drawing part is brush pen, smooth and no need for diping and for shading to use brush..... perfect match.. Like two of the tools making love giving a birth of amazing art together😊🥰

Honestly for comic book art I'd add another challenger ... The dip pen a ton of mangaka use it for their professional work and it allows a little more control over the brush but can still utilize the same inks and many of the techniques a brush can. And even then the pen I would say is best used when going back with other materials to add more depth to the piece
