There is no doubt Penang is a great place to retire. After the new requirements by MM2H (Retirement visa), a lot of retirees are looking somewhere else away from Malaysia. Its sad and tragic.

how is it? I hear Alila2 is poorly managed and all the fixtures fail, is that right?

@@Bingpot_Cowabunga we have been here for just over 12 months and have not seen anything like you have asked..We think the place is well managed..attended the AGM in December and it was well run with plenty of questions from various owners/residents. We haven’t seen any evidence of fixtures failing at least in our apartment. Maybe some apartments will have issues so perhaps we have been lucky

I live in Penang for many years. I have also live in Alila 2.Penang is a nice place only but not so for its non Malay citizens. Ask the non Malay citizens and they will tell you why. If you don't mind to be a second class citizens its OK. Otherwise you really have to seriously consider
