Hello. Great job. It's very art. So I want to thank you for something else. My father had some business from his father, my grandfather. Among the stuff he had was a machine similar to this one. The thing is, we never knew what it was for. I never thought it could be a simple pencil size. That's crazy. When I saw the picture I immediately remembered the grandfather's machine. The decorations have been erased for a long time but I remember that there were inscriptions in relief with the word Hamburg. I might have thought about it because my grandfather was an architect at the Royal House in Bucharest. In any case I had a great time watching your video and thank you for sharing it with us. On top of that I have relived feelings of the past. Thank you. Gabriel (France).

I see gears meshing, blade cutting, levers actuating something and turning a handle that makes it all work together. At one time this was a marvel of the modern world. Award for the most elaborate pencil sharpener ever goes to this. I would guess this came from the mid-Victorian era, being from 1870. I kinda have to wonder how many pencils this thing sharpened over the last century and a half, and how much history it was used during. Maybe an office? School? Maybe used by an architect or draftsman? Those decals were not a method I have seen. I enjoyed watching the peeling of the clear film. Annoying that the paint peeled though. Came out OK, finally. Ya gotta admit, the Victorians seemed to really love elaborate decoration of the most mundane items like this pencil sharpener, sewing machines, typewriters, etc. All in all, I really enjoyed this one. Please stay safe and healthy!
