I seem to be having a problem adjusting my clock. I have a very old clock never need adjusting, but I’m my grandfather clock. I’m having a bit of a problem. I am waiting at least 10 hours to do it. I probably need to do 24 hours like you recommend and I’m doing little tiny terms not full-time I believe, 1 full turn equals one minute???

I have a grandfather clock. The minute hand of the clock is running little bit fast and I adjusted the pendulum several times but still it is running fast. Please give me a solution . Other thing is I want to know whether the level of the ground affects this problem.

I inherited my father’s grandfather clock recently and what I learned is that the clock being level front to back and side to side is critical. After I leveled it, mine works perfectly.

Hello, what is the service history of the timepiece? It may be best to have it properly serviced to rule out any potential issues. Also, for pendulum adjustments it is always best to wait at least 24 to 48 hours before making any further adjustments to the pendulum. In your case if the clock being fast, it would need to be slowed down by turning the nut at the bottom of do the pendulum counter clockwise (left) to bring the pendulum lower (lower = slower for the pendulum). Again, if issues do persist, it would be best to seek out a qualified clockmaker or Horologist in your area. -Josh

Hello, it may be best to seek a qualified clockmaker or Horologist in your area. It is likely that your clock needs serviced. What is the service history for your timepiece? The vast majority of timepieces need serviced every 3-5 years.

Adjusted mine over a 2 week period and adjusted the pendulum to the point of it coming apart trying to slow the time down.I put it back together but my clock still runs too fast.Any suggestions? Thx

Hello, is the clock a new clock or older clock? Normally with older clocks, it is common for the original pendulum to become lost and having been replaced with most likely an improper (lighter or heavier) pendulum. There are various issues that could be going on though; it is likely best to seek a qualified Horologist or clockmaker in your area.
