@@brandonaxTGC I was once a high school student, but I am no longer one because I longer attend high school. Rothfuss did write books, but considering the fact that he has done nothing but appear at nerd, sjw, and charity events for several years, he is no longer an author. At best he's a philanthropist, at worst he's a washed up former author who is riding what's left of the wave of success of his work when he actually was writing. Obviously by definition he's an author, but he doesn't deserve the title any more considering his behaviour towards his fans, namely, that he believes he doesn't owe us the completion of a trilogy. Fuck Pat, he's letting us all down.

Here are two of my favorite authors on the same stage, awesome. However, RAS must be rolling his eyes inside, sitting there while Pat complains about how challenging this aspect of writing is, and how hard it is to develop this character relationship, blah blah blah. Rothfuss is very talented and has potential but he has only written two and a half books in 13 years since his first published work. R.A. Salvatore has written 60+ quality books over the last 35 years because he is a hard worker and because he has respect for the craft. R.A. Slavatore is to Patrick Rothfuss as Larry Bird is to Jayson Tatum. I am not saying Jayson Tatum can't become as good as Larry Bird, I'm just saying he has a LONG way to come before that can even be considered.

I think its entertaining to observe the psychology going on here. The interviewer is the innocent, somewhat naive person. Salvatore, just the casual, partially withholding and shy individual, and Pat the arrogant, smart-assy guy. And how, since Bob seems to be a quite impressionable and malleable person, how he seems to gain the attitude and appearance of superiority and more of the "well, actually you're wrong and here's why" kind of attitude. This is just the way i see it. Im no expert in psychology, just observing and expressing what o believe took place. Dont get me wrong, i love both of the authors, ive been reading the legend of drizzt since i was young, and recently delved into, and thoroughly enjoyed, pat's works. It is unfortunate that someone who has such an ability to write and influence express such a ...hatred and disgust for...it seems most things. Great guys though. Im sure pat has a lot on his plate. I can see the level of hope lost, of life drained from both of them. Its subtle, but there.

Bob is a Tolkien level writer for me. Besides Simon Hawke ( Dark Sun Nomad trilogy ) and Richard A. Knaack ( Dragonlance) no other writer shaped my imagination like Salvatore. Patrick although a newer writer has a very entertaining quality to his work also. Like both the other writers ( total of 6 books between them I think ) both quality over quantity matters more and the impact his two novels have made him legend. To all those losers whining about his third book, try writing a SINGLE publishable short story and you will soon see the rigors of writing.

@Adrian Anikeenko One could argue that the elder Tolkien's works were also inconsistent, insofar as they were constantly evolving and progressing up until his death. It took a lot of revision and editing on his son's part to make most of his stories consistent with the rest.

These two shouldn't be on the same stage. Don't get me wrong, I love the Drizzt series, read most of them, but the difference between Rob and Pat is gigantic... Pat's writing and storytelling is head and shoulders above Salvatore. Sure Rob is, technically speaking, a more successful writer in terms of sales, but Pat agonizes over every detail is his stories and it really shows in his final product. As much as I enjoy the Drizzt novels, I really wouldn't even put them in the same category as far as skill is concerned. Rob is a great idea man, but he lacks the detail that Pat exhibits in his novels. That's why I think the idea of a Drizzt movie is a Longshot. I would be surprised if the Kingslayer isn't made into a movie.

Not to say they were bad but like I said hes all over the place streaming video games asking for money giving speeches for 2 books he wrote years ago and has left his fans hanging. Its unprofessional and makes me look at him as a hobbyist who wrote what he wishes he would have been in a fantasy novel.

Chill out little boy, Rothfuss is one of the greatest authors of this generation. Saying he isn't because he doesn't publish books is exactly the thing I would expect from some with your level of maturity and intelligence. Salvatore spits out books like shit, and that's why they remain just that. Pat is creating one of the greatest, most magical stories ever told since HP. Is it for older people, well no, but every single published writer that I know in his 40s acknowledged Pat's genius and every single person I know loved his books. He is targeting growing up men because that's what the world is about, no one gives a fuck about a story for a middle aged cunt with 2 kids and an ugly life he gets blowjobs from at Christmas, no offence.
