The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that Sergei Murashov has signed his ELC on Tuesday and while that has Hunter and Patrick excited, they're still left with some questions. To start today's episode, they get into how giddy they are about Murashov before discussing if this could mean a goaltender gets shipped out. They also discuss where Murashov will start playing this year and how his game could look in North America. After that, they discuss the roster that came out for the prospects challenge and how the Penguins top prospects will be playing in that. They dive into how this is probably the best the Penguins have looked prospects wise heading into that challenge since it started. Finally, they analyze ESPN's new top 25 NHL players list from the 21st century and give their thoughts on it.

As far as the ESPN list, remember it’s ESPN who, pretty much as hockey goes, are clueless.

Love the show. Marty Brodeur would shut down the league, off the couch, this fall.

For some reason Gino doesn't get national love for his game/career. Kane and Gino are so close with their stats and achievements, how can they be so far apart on this list? And you're correct about McKinnon being over Lindstrom is almost criminal. Probably the most dominant overall defenseman I've ever watched play and I'm much older than both of you gentlemen.

MacKinnon is great but there is some recency bias there for sure. Malkin up to this point has a better career and honestly just plainly is the better of the two. It's funny because I've even heard Kane say something along the lines of not everyone is Sid and Geno, not everyone can finish their career with one team and be that good. That shows you how much respect those two have earned because they have lead THE BEST team of the 21st century and really since the 90s Red Wings two such success

Brayden Yager is awesome. Yager will be great to watch when his time is right. FUTURE = Yager.

Hey Hunter and Pat, great segment as always guys! I do have a question, so with Murashov now signing in your honest opinion do you think Jarry could get moved now with both top goalie prospects playing in North American and also with Ned signing a two year extension this offseason or do you think they keep Jarry and move Ned? What are your thoughts if one of them get moved with both top goalie prospects being here and Blomqvist probably not being far off from being NHL ready. I will say this after what happened to The Penguins in the playoffs two years ago against The New York Rangers when they were forced to turn to Louis Domingue for basically the entire series if there is one position this team would like to depth, its at the goaltending position.

The issue with moving Jarry, at least this year, is that you have to find someone willing to accept that future salary cap commitment. Never say never, but hard to see him moving before next offseason, at the earliest.

@@gablefisk-govphost817 yeah they’d have to end up retaining salary, but who knows. If Jarry bounces back and plays like he did the first half of last season, where I thought he was really good, he may up his trade value next summer

It’s so tough still I think because a lot of the moves have been made, right? I just don’t know what team is looking for goaltending right now. That said, something is going to have to give at camp because I know someone will be upset about playing in Wheeling for example

@@LockedOnPenguins I'd have to assume that Murashov went into this with his eyes open re: Wheeling.

I think that’s where he ultimately ends up. Some people will say it’s not good for him but I disagree, considering he’s getting his feet wet in NA hockey

Here is my top the 21st century. Keep in mind Lidstrom, Brodeeur, and Jagr were all drafted in the 90 and because of that i dont know if id put them on the list in general. But if we are i'd go. Crosby Ovechkin lidstrom Mcdavid Brodeur Malkin Kane Jagr Everyone else.. The only reason jagr is lower is because im only taking post 2000 into consideration. Not entire career. Javr would be 2 if we take whole career into comsideration. As far as Malkin and Kane go its not really that close to me. Malkin is ahead of Kane. At times Malkin was the best player on the planet. Even ahead of Sid and Ovi..he was that good. He would still be that good but bad knees have slowed hime down a bit. Geno was Marioesque at times. If we take the 90s guys off the list Geno would be 4 for me. I meam He has the 3rd highest PPG of any player similar only behind Crosby and Mcdavid. That is the conversation that Geno belongs in. The only thing that holds Geno off of those conversations are injury amd comdfidence issues which has hurt him at times in his career but when he's going there are not many better than 71

So glad murashov signed his elc. You can't have enough goaltending depth and the way russia is developing goalies right now every team should draft one. Pens did pretty well in last year's prospect challenge with a lot less talented roster. They might surprise in this year's. Pickering is probably still 2 to 3 years away from the nhl roster. Defensemen take soo long to develop unless they're an elite dman like makar or hughes. Most don't play until 22 to 23 years old and some even longer.

I wonder if Gauthier gets traded. He's too good for the echl and there isn't room in the ahl. Could help the Pens get a prospect back too.

The Datsyuk was actually the Omark. Brodeur was a good goalie but way overrated. Nobody is saying he wasn't good, but he ain't top 25.
