Should the Penguins give Harrison Brunicke a 9-game trial?

A big advantage of using Sid and Geno together after a PK is that the other team's best players are often on their power play, so you have a fresh dynamic duo against the opposition's third or fourth line and bottom pairing.

Anything to take away, it’s nice to have prospects in camp to be excited about for the future. This team hasn’t had that for awhile

Pat you mentioned about Olli Maatta , I thought of Daniel Sprong. I think Sprong had potential to do good things here, but The Penguins messed his development up and burned a year of his ELC by not sending him back to juniors after his 9 game tryout in 2015-16. Although Sprong did land Marcus Pettersson, so it wasn't so bad, but I still think The Penguins messed his development up during his rookie campaign.

As a Blazers Fan I really loved hearing you shine about Brunner, He is a brighter spot on a very very very depressing Kamloops Blazers team...Not sure if you know but Kamloops sold their soul (all their 1st and 2nds till 2028 and other picks aswell) and Exceptional Status Phenom was just used by Everret using Kamloops pick that was #1 overall. So whether it's from last seasons numbers or if he comes back after 9 NHL games take that into mind. Well that's if he's not traded by Kamloops which with none of our own picks we be trading everyone.

I'd love to see him get his 9 games, there's an open spot too if Karlsson is hurt to start the season. I know Karlsson said he expects to be ready, but who truly knows because the NHL is so mysterious with injuries lol. Oddly enough Brunicke's poise with the puck actually reminds me of Karlsson too.

Harrison Brunicke could be the "next" Letang in the future. He skates like Letang and makes offensive moves. Nice draft pick.

My only fear about Brunicke is that in these same preseason games, Puljujarvi is doing great as well and has done so historically - 16pts in 17 career preseason games and we know it hasn't translated to the regular season .... so my point is that it can APPEAR that we have a great NHL ready youngster in the preseason against subpar competition and players going 3/4s speed while shaking off the summer rust .... now with that being said the real litmus test would be a 9 game sample and let EK65 get FULLY healthy, because we basically only have 6,7 & 8th level Dmen he would replacing so it wouldn't hurt us in the longterm or hinder development for anyone else

I say give Brunicke first three games til’ EK is ready,don’t rush the young man,he’s still in a teenager’s body!

Big surprise Jarry looses the game averaging what 5 shots a period? Lol. He also does that a lot letting in goals late in the third. Joel will prob take the start from Tristan if Alex is out for a few weeks or more. I can see it.

It's either juniors or the NHL for him. Juniors is a waste of his time. He's clearly a better player than guys like Ruhwedel and Ludvig. Grzelcyk and Aho have also looked like crap and don't deserve the spot at all. The coaching staff claim that they'll "put the lineup on the ice that gives them the best chance to win", right? So then follow through and play the kid.

At the very least I think he’s gonna get a trial. I do think even if it goes well and he goes back to junior, it wouldn’t be the worst thing because you can see him dominate there (which he hasn’t done fully yet) but who knows, maybe he does spend the full year here.
