The main reason for Reverse Flash to not kill Barry as a child is because if Barry never becomes the Flash then Tawne would never become Reverse Flash as well, and so Reverse Flash would be erased from the timestream. Killing Barry as a child would effectively kill him as well

That didn't cause Thawne to hate Barry, and instead deepened his obsession. He grew into the role of the villain and dedicated himself to destroying Barry's life. Why? Well, in Thawne's own words, it was the only was Barry would spend time with him. The reason his uniform is yellow isn't because he wanted to be the opposite of The Flash. He picked yellow because it was the color of all of Flash's sidekicks. Thawne's greatest desire was always to be The Kid Flash.

Reverse Flash actually is a pretty terrifying villain for reasons the videos didn't mention. Like In some comics, he confirmed that he been able to time travel so much that he became a "living paradox", meaning that he exist in The past, present, and future but doesn't have a past or future himself. Basically, he's unaffected by changes to time(like killing him as a kid) and it's practically impossible to permanently kill him even with time travel as he can just infinitely come back from any time. He's even able to rewrite his own timeline, in a way :).

I always just try to rationalize it as it being a snowball effect. Where Reverse Flash hates Barry as much as he does because Thawne recounts all the time the two ever had conflict. So Thawne's hate stops being about the initial reason, and more about the accumulation of their rivalry

Actually this video misses the point. The reason why Thawne doesn't kill Barry is that if he does he won't become a speedster in the future, essentially erasing who he currently is in the timeline. So all he can do is make Barry's life hell, but not too much of a hell that he wouldn't become the Flash, which would erase Thawne. So he's stuck in that in-between zone making Barry's life hell but not being able to go too far.

Think about it in terms of the present, The Flash has always known the Reverse Flash as his greatest enemy, yet Eobard from the future supposedly only lost his mind when he found out he was actually supposed to be Barry’s greatest enemy in his own life/timeline, which includes going backwards to different points in the past from Eobard’s point in the distant future. It’s the classic chicken or the egg situation, because Reverse Flash has messed with time so much it’s so hard to pinpoint his original reason for going back in time/ hating the Flash (ie not just seeing himself be a villain in HIS future and losing his mind). It’s a bit of a paradox.

So a bit of context that makes his reasoning make more sense (but obviously still psychotic) is that he was obsessed with the Flash when he was a kid. He owned every piece of merch, knew every little fact and detail. Eventually he recreated the circumstances in which Barry became Flash so he could be like him, and then used those powers with an old artifact called the Cosmic Treadmill (which could only be used by Speedsters) to travel back in time to meet Flash. However, it was at this point that he learned the name of Barry's biggest rival, the person Eobard hated most; he learned that he, Eobard Thawne, was Reverse Flash. This broke him mentally, sending him into a psychotic rage. He became the one thing he hated and could never do anything to change it because altering reality to make Barry not exist erases Thawne. It made him batshit insane and a paradox keeps him from not going insane or breaking the cycle

Also surprised about the timelines for the flash. He literally picked one of the few main characters who has time manipulation and is like astounded that there are so many flash arks. you see the issue with comics is that they do have one canon timeline, then as shit gets more complex and impossible to keep track of they make a big event that combines all stories into one timeline, keeping the good and getting rid of the bad. But this creates countless problems because some of what was left behind is necessary to explain the new canon. So they make more complex stories explaining everything and it's back to square one
