I think there is a deeper thing with people grabbing their phones when confronted, you see it an awful lot these days some kid is getting mouthy gets mouthed back and grabs their phone and pretends they're busy or that they got a call, just because you can say crap online from behind your phone does not make it a shield in the real world. 8:20 - the cop did NOT make him a favor. The police just doesn't like being filmed and recorded in case they do something illegal. If this guy did not want any of this to be public he could turn off the stream or mute it easily. It's also illegal to temper with his shit fyi.

Also PDs often "lose" the recordings or don't give them out when asked for legally. The recordings get lost, corrupted, etc...and people cannot prove what really happened. That's why you ALWAYS got to record all the police interactions. Also, you have the right, to record police interactions.

The dude was in the act of committing a crime, the case would not get thrown out for the officer flipping his phone over. You're delusional if you think otherwise. Seizing the phone and searching through it would be a different story, but when you're attempting to interrogate a suspect of a crime and the fucking suspect is live streaming, I'm sure any judge or jury would agree that the police officer made the right call. Just because ACAB, doesn't mean in this niche scenario, the cop didn't do him a favor by not letting him embarrass himself. You and I both know this guy wasn't recording in case the officer wasn't acting right.
