Should you buy a penn authority or a van staal? Which one is actually better!?

Honestly for the price of these reels you better off with a twin power or certate it’s a nicer piece of equipment and will honestly last you about the same time as long as you look after it

TW nor Certate will not last as long as the VS, I have all 3. The Japanese reels are smoother/lighter, but the VS is basically maintenance free and will outlast the other two, even if used staggered.

I know Penn authority 3500 is heavier than the vr50. (Staal weighing 9 ounces and authority weighing 14)

I was thinking the same thing. Van Staals have actually done a good job with their weight and Penns are notoriously heavy. Everything else was on point though
