Just rebuilt/serviced my Grandfathers 113-H which hasn’t seen water in 20-30 years. Great video. Tip: use the handle crown nut to loosely hold all the drag washers in place and the won’t keep falling out on you.

I'm getting good at your procedure a 27.03. My Dad who has gone on ahead would call out "DAD GUM IT!". I use "OH SHIT!". Means the same thing. Seriously, extra shims and flying springs. That's reel maint. Thanks for the help!

@@TSGReelService Oh yeah I'd say. Dad got to surf fish So. Cal. for almost 70 years. Sand crabs, Mitchell reels, tide book and a 3/4 pound Mr. Goodbar. He surf cast till he couldn't surf cast no more. Thank for your condolences.

On some of the other Penn reels like the 320 GTI, its much easier to put everything on the side plate like the drag washers and the dogs in first. Finally, put the metal plate over all the the parts. You may need to rotate slightly to line up all the metal drag washers. If you do it your way, it may not allow you to put in the dogs. It is much easier and faster than to try to do it your way. Penns are not the best design for repair work, but they are workhorses for people who love to abuse fishing reels.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.... the dog thing may work on reels like the GTi (see here kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmXWe2iVmL2qeqcsi=8zL8kVlz4YcQGsUd), but I'm not sure what you're suggesting is easier.... lining up the metal drag washers is near impossible doing it that way, unless it's drag-sized open slot in the right hand plate like the one in this video, but, on the Senators, you have the dog to worry about to worry about, that needs to go on first before setting the bridge in place. If I misunderstood your suggestion, please post a quick video of what you're referring to and posting the link here, so I can be clear. Thanks again for sharing. Spread the word about the channel.

What is best way to degrease all the components. Is an aerosol degreaser like an automotive brake cleaner too harsh? Dish soap and water?

Do you know if the upgrade bearring sets sold online like on boca bearring and smooth drag that fit Penn 113H will also fit Penn 113H2LW models?

Depending on the reel and year, the bearing may be different. Get ones that fit the H2 for the H2LW to be on the safe side.

I have no doubt but that one day a Stone Age settlement will be dug up by archaeologists and they will uncover a Penn Senator reel. And they will give it a rinse and be fishing with it the next day.

I believe there is supposed to be a thick felt washer between the final metal washer and the flanged plate on the drag stack. Also the flanged plate should be reversed.
