yes deadlifts are a great linemin exercise it makes great explosiveness and power

Thats why there are coaches there to make sure the exercise is done properly

As a beginning strength coach, I personally feel that proper technique on the deadlift is the hardest lift to teach. You have to want to do it right. It's not a hard lift, but if you are lazy , have a weak core and a "I just want to get through with the set"attitude- YOU WILL NEVER GET IT RIGHT.

there was a study done comparing two teams, one who used mainly free weights the other using mainly machines and there was very little difference when it came to the teams success and players drafted, ill try to find the article again i read it a few months ago and ill post the link

What's the name of the barbell he uses at 4:18?
@baconandeggs7315 жыл бұрын
it may not make a difference for the overall team or where they get drafted, but lifting free weights has a bigger impact individually than machines. free weights incorporate stabilizer muscles that machines dont, and help develop overall strength and athleticism that you cant get from machines. especially when you do olympic style lifts

@byebyenow1 I saw your comment on the "Now or never" video, and I don't think it's a three days grace song, I memorized like, all of their songs. Unless there's one I don't know about... But I don't think so.

What comes down to coaching?
@Shadowzz414 жыл бұрын
@tglinebacker42 it makes a huge difference your right. But you take one athlete that goes to michigan and another that goes to penn state, when those two teams meet, the difference in quality of the strength programs for those two schools, or virtually any other D1 school is negligible to the point that it is going to have virtually zero effect on the game in my opinion. In the end it will come down to who had the better athletes to begin with and who coaches/leads their team better.

When I played fb in college, there were players on the team that hadn't done any lifting prior to college football. AND THERE WAS USUALLY "NO COMPARISON" between the 2 groups. It always shows on the field who has paid their dues in the weightroom. Oh and for u striving FB players, u better believe that when us coaches meet u we are even doing a physical analysis of how u look. When u look like a beast it helps u get your foot in the door, it makes us want to see if the talent matches the body.

Consider adding SquatPrecision to each of your squat racks for : an added safety feature, and helping your players hit the exact depth you consider to be the most productive / efficient. Your teams logo can be added to the device if you send in the patch(es) Just google squatprecision or do a quick utube search at squatprecision to check out the device.

the last thing the coach wants is someone crumbling under the bar. also, they can introduce their legs to heavy weights without having to place a bar on their back ( bad lower back pains really kill an athlete's career)

Im not a strength coach, I am a trainer, but I know my shit; the biggest issue across the board whether it be athletes or general pop is flexibility of the posterior chain and to a lesser extent the hip flexors. Without sufficient flexibility in those muscles performance in the weight room and on the field cannot even approach its full potential. I've personally never met someone who couldnt squat that had adequate flexibility.

@sschroff its accepted that strength to weight ratio is a flawed method of comparison. Why? it doesnt take into account work. Additionally, its also known that strength to weight ratio drops on average as someone gets heavier. Coordination also drops when someone gets taller. So there is a guy who is 5 foot 3 that can do a bunch of flips and turns and shit... ok. Im talking about measureable attributes like vertical jump and 20 yard dash. Olympic lifters will crush gymnasts.

@Shadowzz4 Sorry man but as a long time athlete who competed in many different sports I have to say, gymnasts (something I never was or ever could be), are by far the best athletes to be found. Pound for pound the strongest and most explosive athletes you will ever find. They are also the most graceful and flexible. After them would come track and field throwers :-)

no explosion in deadlift
@mike7ace15 жыл бұрын
Olympic lifters are the strongest, most powerful, flexible (2nd to gymnist),athletic,and balanced athletes in the world GUARANTEED. They also have the highest vertical jump and 50m dash times that rival and faster than plympic sprinters.
@zeemonkey18715 жыл бұрын
What should also be taken into account is that MOST (not all) non-pro athletes lift with ego and poor form. A proper squat has the qualities that you described, but the average squatter is not up to par with his form.
@Shadowzz415 жыл бұрын
Don't think the teams that are consistently the best have better strength coaches, If you are a top level div 1 football program the difference in the quality of strength coaches is minimal, they are all excellent. It really all comes down to recruiting the best players.

Olympic lifters are, in terms of explosive power, the best athletes you can find anywhere. And that "momentum" is actually the explosive power of the hip extensors actually the entire body being imposed on the bar. What you are talking about is not correct. You do not always want to reach fatigue, you have to manage fatigue or you will trash your nervous system. You have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
@travismpsu1215 жыл бұрын
weight lifting is very important to the game and i love lifting, but still, if i had to choose between lifting weights and d-line drills, i would definitely choose d-line drills. every team's lifting/conditioning program is put together to make better football players (not lifters or bodybuilders) for the team's system. they are put together by what the coaches want out of them, not by what some pussy men's health magazine says

@jjhollywood949 you would be surprised just how clueless freshman are about fitness/nutrition. I was training hard since 16 in HS but most people coming in to fresh year with me during ball had no idea. Further some of these guy think eating healthy is getting chicken nuggets at MD's. It's not really their fault. People learn quick.
