I was an athlete at NMSU and now I compete in Olympic Lifting. A word to the wise the strength and conditioning coaches need to teach better technique in the Olympic lifts.

Love seeing teams like this rise up, as a UK FB fan I know what it's like to struggle and suck now it seems we have a legit staff that know what they're doing, I have not ties to NMSU but I know they have been bad for a long time as well I would love to see them rise up like it seems we are similar to how Vandy has. I love David Vs Goliath stories.

yea that fine and probaley true but, you should NEVER get lower than 90 degrees because as soon as you do that you put your knees in a LOT of stress causing early knee injuries and they might start to hurt when you s´just walk.. so think of that next time because the even if you make it to the league how long can you stay there.

Observation @2:22 - guy is doing low bar (power squats) in the high bar position. You can see him tipping forward. The bar should be on the back of the shoulders, not the top of the traps.

This video is awesome, the one thing I did notice though is not a single one of the guys doing squats went down anywhere near parallel

I agree, but parallel can be just as effective as below parallel. Below parallel are more for the hamstrings and developing power.

True. But here's a little known fact. The Aggies are only one of a handful of teams, if not the only college football team, that is undefeated in bowl games at 2-0-1, all Sun Bowl appearances.

Just realized that were not on the same page. When I first replied to DKDIESAL, I thought he wrote isometric factor. This should clear some things up. I am 100% behind assistance exercises as opposed to core exercises for bodybuilding. Sorry for the mixup lol.

@pgascoigne99 It's not all of the USA. Bad technique exists every where. IT comes down to knowing the Olympic technique and then having the patience and diligence to coach it.

Type IIx, mostly white but its a continuum; anaerobic pathways: PCr/glycolytic systems/ endocrine stimulation of protein synthesis. Yes, I actually have a very decent understanding given that I'm studying kinesiology. Power is work over time bub, not rocket science. But it seems like you're saying that bodybuilders are looking to lift heavy ass weight in order to build muscle. That's not really the case. Heavyweight/low reps=neural gains. Intermediate weight/intermediate reps= hypertrophy.
@krb012312 жыл бұрын
i saw tons of nice half squats
@superboy9034512 жыл бұрын
Disagree. 90 degree squats are sports specific. You never go from an ATG position when you tackle right? IMO box squats are the best kinds of squats for football players.
@MURDR6312 жыл бұрын
In addition, FRONT squats at that depth are better for athletes.
@MetalMeLike12 жыл бұрын
yeah maybe they are doing half a squat to focus on explosiveness and strength. What pisses me off however is when people do that and say 'look at how much I can squat!!'
@DKDIESEL9313 жыл бұрын
I'm going to disagree with you. Most bodybuilders are the ones that you'll see doing "Quarter" or "Half" squats because they're looking for the isolation factor. Full depth squats are proven to make you both faster and more explosive, at the cost of having to do less weight. Unless your ass is below parallel, You're wasting your time. No excuses, No bullshit.

I'm actually not looking for any answer, I never asked you any questions. I was done once I realized that I misread isolation with isometric. But as far as a scientific background in S+C, we're on the same team (impressive background by the way). I'm just looking out for broscience on youtube.

@pgascoigne99 youre right!!! i have seen some exercises that are dumb as hell... and most athletes workout without any form
@heeberman12 жыл бұрын
Why would body builders, who are striving for hypertrophy, look for an isolation factor? They're trying to build type II fibers most of the time.
@sonofthepastor261412 жыл бұрын
2 main flaws i saw #1 Technique could be better. #2 The coaches are allowing them to bend over when tired. When workingout for football, you must train your body to stay up, b/c it's all muscle memory.
@heeberman12 жыл бұрын
Actually Christopher, Force x velocity is the same thing as work/time. Take any high school physics courses? Thanks for the review but you're really not giving me any information outside of what anyone can read in any basic S+C or personal training text.

Nice video but with all the money they spend on such facilities, one would think that they could at least get a coach who has some idea of how to teach the clean and what a parallel (or full depth) squat is but apparently not. It seems they just let the guys do the exercises however they want in the weight room.

@rogue8853 When I watch videos like this firstly you cant blame the athlete because they are only doing what they "know" and what their coach allows. But when it comes to lifts such as the clean I dont know why strength coachs allow for this type of form and hitching..this type of technique can only lead to injury in the athlete now or even later in life. Complete disregard to an emphasis on form by the coaches is a real detriment to the athletes for the rest of their careers

There form for squat and clean are terrible. None of their butts were parallel and in real powerlifting if the bar does not touch your chest then it is illegal. You are in college you should be doing full range of motion and should not have to use a block of wood or a sponge for decreased distance.
@plantera0712 жыл бұрын
Agreed, terrible depth and form on those squats.

@TVTruther12 жыл бұрын
Strength coach needs to be schooled on clean technique and squat depth. Mn has powerlifters in their teens who can do that weight raw and deep and weigh less and do it in competition, don't ever pretend half squats and crummy technique is preparing, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
