~DEFENSE! DEFENSE! DEFENSE! ~
The infamous "six-to-four" game known within the Penn State football circles. In other words, 6-4 was the score for this one, and without a doubt the most embarrassing loss for many many Nittany Lion fans. In essence, your team was able to acquire two safties in the game, (and football fans know just how rare of a feat that is) but your offense is so inept that it couldn't put up just one score all game long. Even a lonely field goal would have won this game for the home Blue and White. Rather, it was Iowa's two field goals that won it for the Hawkeyes in Beaver Stadium on a dreary dreadful day.
But on the bright side, the Penn State defense yet again played phenomenally, putting on a display that was entertaining in how they held Iowa to only six points all day long. The other thing was that Iowa was one of the better teams in the conference in 2004 and Penn State was right there with them.
The Nittany Lions lost yet another, bringing that streak to four in a row. Their record stood at 2-5 for the year. Iowa squeaked this one out to improve to a 5-2 mark, and would finish 2004 as the co-Big Ten Champions (10-2 record) shared with Michigan. They would play LSU in the Capital One Bowl and win, 30-25, and finishing the year ranked 8th in the final AP Poll.
