You can always tell if they're fooled or not by whether Penn compliments or insults.

I don't know... I felt giving him the magic kit at the end was a bit condescending... I mean, his presentation, his performance, everything was completely PRO. I thought they should have treated him as a professional, and giving him the magic kit smacked of treating him like a kid.

I think he was invited to perform so penn and teller could promote their magic kit. It's just an assumption
@atinity6749
@atinity6749 4 жыл бұрын
I think that what he did was very basic. I think that is one of the most popular routines, seen it many times. Even in FU it's done multiple times. And it's always a snoozefest. I just cringe. And maybe I shouldn't because it would take me a long time to learn sleight of hand skills necessary to be able to perform that. I just feel like that trick is like if someone went on stage, took a tiny red ball and said he would be able to make it disappear. Then they would close the red ball in their fist, said magic word, open their hand and showed how to ball is gone. Then they'd said it appeared in their pocket, and they'd pull it out of there, and said: "ta-da!". In a children's party that would be an acceptable trick, but this is TV show, in Las Vegas, where lots of most talented magicians perform all the time. And I'm not saying you have to be master level to be at this show. That one trick Piff the magic dragon did was kinda mediocre, but he had an amazing performance and comedy routine, and a great stage presence as well.

@@nburakovsky as I said to the other person, until you fool them yourself, you have no room to talk, they were both super nice and condescending at the same time about it, yes its an basic trick, but he did that basic trick at a young age without messing up, ON TELEVISION IN FRONT OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE AND TEO FAMOUS MAGICIANS. thats magic in and of itself.

He has a school ID because while he is homeschooled, he competes in sports. He will need the student ID to be at the school to compete and get those student discounts. :). Also, some states require student IDs, even for the homeschooled. The initial force was awkward, but in time and development of his skill set, he will get move to a better force. Palming of his School ID card out of the pocket needs lot of work. Painful obvious. Penn nailed the routine that inspired this act, hence knows how it works. Austin Janik was amazing on the stage and has great presence on the stage. I cannot wait to see him in 10-15 years performing on the biggest stages. We have a future super star in the development.
