That was a fabulous trick. I have no idea how it was done but there were two areas where it appeared he was switching things. One came just after he took the small box from Teller, you can tell just after the match drops out that the box is not clear on the side facing the table because what looked like afolded up card was in fact just a picture of a folded up card with the match concealed behind it. When he tilted the box the picture fell forward (6:12, see? you can't see through the bottom facing the table and one edge of the picture is actually bent up a tiny bit) and the match fell out. He then moved to remove the picture with his left hand and showed the box to be perfectly clear while he dumped the fake card. The other move came as he opened the card that was in the match box but was not as obvious as the first move with Teller. How he got the two Kings from the cards Penn and Teller handled is WAY beyond my comprehension, especially since Penn added another card to his stack on his second thought! It was a wonderful trick but I think Penn and Teller both spotted him concealing and dumping the card from Teller's box and pulling the matchstick out of Penns box revealing only the card, which was enough to call the trick busted. I have subscribed because the trick was very impressive, especially knowing you made this up yourself! Quite creative!

I think the main issue with this trick is that it’s “too good”. The match box card makes it worse, almost, because it means the trick had to be a force, and since penn and teller were given free choice to select a card, that really the only place to make the trick work is inside the box, which was basically an unjustified step between the selection and the reveal, otherwise. I think it’s a neat gimmick, but the plot of the trick needs some work, imo.
@jamesreed56788 ай бұрын
I think it weakens any trick when the ending shows you that there was a force.

One of these days some magician is going to use this as a ruse to fool them. Basically a difficult extra trick thrown in there just to make a free choice look like a force and throw them off. Magic is, after all, misdirection!
@matapichones8 ай бұрын
the main issue is how blatantly anticlimactic they decided the show should be for the sake of performers in the same league as ventriloquists and mimes. the genius parts of illusions are sleight of hand, misdirection, and their design and construction. other than that, it's like pro-wrestling when they used to never break character and insist it was all real and not a performance.
@_______________003 ай бұрын
Most spectators don't really think like this but of course Penn and Teller would. So to fool them this is a flaw of the performance. I have to say though since he opens up the card himself I wouldn't be quite sure that it is a force if he showed it live. Since this typically is only done when something gets swapped out. Of course when watching a video you can rewind and verify that.

The end part with the match and card switching places gave out the trick, he needs to perfect that one part. It was obvious he had the match inside with the card on the clear box and he put away the card when he let the match come out and then the same for the match box. Forcing the cards to be the same has been done many times by too many magicians. But the trick itself was good for an audience that doesn't know how magic tricks are done.
