I've been waiting to make this video for a while and its finally here. These are my 8 penny loafers and in this video you'll get a quick summary of each one, what makes it special, and hopefully which one is right for you. Man... those Al. Edmonds were a steal... Un-related to the subject of the video, but if you don't want to invest in noise canceling foam, you can always hang a blanket or leather jacket behind and to the sides of your recording device so that the material absorbs some of the reverb. The video quality was great, but the fact that you filmed inside does not help the audio aspect. Keep the videos coming!

Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah noise cancelling would definitely be a help lol - im actually using my iPhone here for the audio! I'm really pressed for time when recording these videos with my photographer so hanging stuff would just take an extra bit of time, but it might be worth it! Ill definitely run the idea by him. Really appreciate the suggestion and enthusiasm to help me improve !!

got a pair of Aldens for and for graduating 8th grade, so i like the look of an Alden penny loafer best. i didn't stop growing, but lucky my feet did, i was able to wear them Aldens out. lol i think it boils down to the shape and positioning of the toe and the placement of the moc that i like the most about Alden above the rest.

DO you have any advice for a guy with orthotics? I have a half shoe pair I put in everything sans my snowboarding boots. I worry that loafers have a shallower depth than other shoes and I worry about heel slippage.

I think if you need orthotics then go to Allen Edmonds for example where you can get something in wide and extra wide (E,EE,EEE) and also doesn’t have any foam insert so you can easily fit an insole in there - they have good sales too and they’re def worth the price

@@TheMensch Thanks for the response! I'm going through some annoyance with the 1000 miles too right now because of the orthotics. The Canadian webstore only has D and the size 11 pushes pretty tight on the bridge of foot. Pretty sure because of the orthotics. Ordered an 11.5 to see if that makes a difference.

The Johnston and Murphy "Cormac", and the Ace Marks "Greg", look almost identical. I wonder if they are possibly made by the same shoe manufacturer in Italy. I'm not necessarily a big fan of most Johnston and Murphy shoes, however, the ones "Made In Italy", are actually very nice quality. Comparable in my opinion to Allen Edmonds. I have thrifted a few pairs of J&M shoes, "Made In Italy", and I am very pleased with the quality. Most J&M are made of cemented soles, and the leather quality is poor...but not the ones "Made In Italy". I bet the Ace Marks are made in the same factory in Italy as the J&M's. Both are very nice for the price point. (Even better if one can thrift a pair for around 10 bucks).

How was the sizeing for Meerim?

Good question! For this last, I went a full size down from my US shoe size (since they run on UK sizing) and I probably could have gone down another half a size. I went down a size and a half on the service boots which run on the HOK last and those fit great! So I would recommend going a size and a half down from your US shoe size

Tough call - it really depends on the shoe style some are wider or more narrow than others. I would say go a half size down from your sneaker as a general rule but def take advantage of free shippping and free returns from the Allen Edmonds website and try multiple sizes if u can
