I think since games like Ori and the Blind Forest and Hollow Knight exist it did not stand up as well. I don't think it deserves C tier but if we want to talk linear metroid games. Fusion did it way better. Dread was just prettier.

@@starspangledkiwi7224 I just don't agree. I thought Dread was an amazing linear Metroidvania even with the likes of Ori and Hollow Knight being it's competition. And it was much more than just "prettier" compared to Metroid Fusion. I love Fusion but (in my opinion) Dread just flows better and has much more replayability. It's not perfect, but it's definitely higher than a C.

Okay, so funny story. I decided to have the 1 hour of silence broken up by occasional laughter playing in another tab while this video was playing, and the two points I remember it playing at were when you started elaborated on your reasons for The Last of Us Part 2 being good and when you got into that emotional explanation for why Endwalker is important to you. Those were nice speeches, but the laughers fucking got me. The timing was brilliant. There was also a point when both the in video laughers and my other tab laughers played at the same time.

I had a lot of fun with Metroid Dread, but I swear to god the difficulty curve is absolutely unforgiving. Like you'll be chugging along just fine and then suddenly there's a boss fight, get ready to die a dozen or more times in a row. The Robot Chozo encounter in the jungle area almost made me ragequit I swear to god

I agree with everything you said about TLOU PT II like the game doesn’t deliberately try to make you feel bad for anything because it’s about the characters it’s not about you as a player! People just took it way too personally thinking the game was chastising them as players when in actual fact just like you said, the player was just a force to move the sorry forward and experience it.

Idk, I think the flipping of the structure of the Last of Us Part II results in it feeling like it doesn’t engage with being a game. Like the first game and it’s game director Bruce Straley directly stated the game was tackling the idea of ludonarrative dissonance, the main critique Naughty Dog had towards the uncharted games, and it did it wonderfully while also engaging with the gameplay. TLOU Part II just doesn’t really interact with its gameplay in the same way, and doesn’t take advantage of being a video game and the strengths that such an interactive medium can bring. Games like No More Heroes, the MGS games, etc all aren’t decision based and have defined protagonists like TLOU part 2, but they engage with being a game and using that strength much more. I see why people like the TLOU part 2 and that’s valid but it’s not for me.

So I used to have maybe 14 tabs open while I was in my computer repair class. It was all videos of 1 hour of silence broken by ___ and I would fucking die inside, outside, upside down, rightside in, and then make my table buddy listen to the whole thing as well. Then I'd make them do the same thing and we'd both have 10 to 14 tabs each and we would practically shit ourselves trying not to cackle in the quietest room known to mankind. Good times.
