The fact that the big dick execs thought (probably) the only video game cabinet at a bar full of drunk military guys away from their home and needed some form of outlet wouldn't get flooded with coins shows how out of touch they are. The game could've unironically been the worst game ever made, but drunk and probably depressed guys will turn it into the greatest thing they've ever seen.

@@MrSkerpentineIn 1981 the Fairchild Channel F, Atari 2600, Intellivision, Odyssey 2, and Bally Astrocade were on the market. Around 50 atari 2600 games alone were already out. The Apple 2, PET, Vic 20, TRS-80, Zx80, and Zx81 offered deeper computer games. The foundations of the RPG had already been established with Wizadry and Ultima. Adventure games like Zork and Colossal Cave, and even early graphical adventures like Mystery House and Ataris Adventure. Donkey Kong established the platformer that year. Online gaming had started 7 years earlier with the Plato computer network in 1974, and by 1981 university students across the united states could play the behinnings of the MMORPG with MUD on ArpaNET. All I'm saying is that videogames ramped up slowly starting in the 1950s. Most people, even many video game enthusiasts, start and end their early game knowledge with Pong, PacMan, and the NES.

@@acat5338 Two things: kids, even in the 70's, could get a hold of the occasional quarter to play a round of Pong or Asteroids or whatever, but I do understand where you're coming from. As for animation the medium was that shorts in theaters in the 30's were the main form of cartoons being seen as TV wasn't at all a thing. Julian, apparently, owns a video-to-VHS conversion setup, so that's likely not a filter. MandaloreGaming "borrowed" it for a bit in his Alien Isolation video and credited him at the end of it.

Normally there's a point where I watch a KZbinr, and I watch one of their newest videos, and it's great. And then I watch more of their videos, and the quality compared to that video starts to dip. It feels like lightning in a bottle was harvested, that the video before was the culmination of all the work before, into their best work imaginable I say all that to say this. That hasn't happened yet. Your work just keeps getting better, and I can't wait to see what's next. Whether it be the need for speed video, or halo infinite, or you spending an hour burning a PS2 game in your sink while discussing how much you despise it. I know that somehow, you'll make your best work yet. So thank you, and whatever demon has given you this power, for your work. I cannot wait to see what's next

It was a small part of the video but the way you presented Elizabeth's story has really stuck with me, and I really hope it's inspirational to young female gamers in their early 20s, because I'm at least two of those three things and it still feels inspirational to me. I can't imagine having that moxy and cunning to do what she did, and almost 40 years ago? Just insane. Speaking of which, all of those old men are likely dead and Elizabeth must be in her 60s. The march of time is terrifying.

I've spent a fair portion of my life thinking that I had just imagined Frogger The Great Quest in a manic fever dream as a 6 year old who was given too much Tylenol. To find out that I had been wrong and it was in fact a real game was not a comfort but a visceral horror that actual people made a game like that and my parents saw fit to buy it for me. 10/10 I never made it past the 3rd area.
