Jenova's name is definitely based on Jehovah, especially since she was named that by Shinra researchers (if I recall correctly), and since they thought she was ancient, they thought she'd lead them to the Promised Land, much like the god Jehovah would his believers. Fun fact it also the "nova" part in her name means "new" in Latin, basically making her name mean "New Jehovah". Overall a lot of FF7's lore and terms are based on especially Jewish religion and mythology, but as they've same origin, there is a lot of similarities with Jehovan/Christian mythology too. I don't know if I agree with Jenova symbolizing Christianity's "foregeiness" to Japan, as I haven't seen any proper proof about these themed being used for other than lore/setting. There is also a not so well known story in Japan that Jesus wasn't crucified and escaped to Japan, with his grave being located in Hokkaido. This story has its origins years before Christianity arrived to Japan from the West. So there is that.

I looked some stuff up, apparently Zach was a mentor to cloud and he dies in the original game and he's not supposed to kill all those guards. The weird ghost things are like, protectors of fate that stop people - mostly Sephiroth and Aerith, from changing destiny. You can kill them, so things go differently in this game. I haven't played FFVII or either of the remakes, so I guess we'll see more when Penny plays Rebirth!

I have to admit, I missed the elevator fight too. I was waiting for that one, and the fight in the lobby just wasn't the same. Also, thigh might not be a popular opinion, but ... I think they should have waited on a Sephiroth fight. They have at least two games, let it cook. The stakes aren't there yet unless you're already a fan. Throwing a Jenova fight in at the end instead would have been fine. But I'm not a huge fan of the Whispers/Arbiters stuff, either.
