Pennywise Baby Doll Makeover | Dollar Tree Horror Baby | DIY Pennywise | How To Make Doll Hair

Let's take this Dollar Tree baby doll and turn it into Pennywise from IT! I love the "Horror Baby" trend, spooky season and scary movies! Time to put them all together in this Halloween Decor DIY!
How To: Description and Time Stamps
I started by spray painting the baby with Rustoleum 2x spray paint.
Once dry I took my acrylic paints and painted on his face!
I used pompoms for his buttons and lace for his outfit!
His red balloon is a small Christmas ornament turned upside down with a qtip hot glued on for the balloon string. The other end of the qtip is hot glued to his hand.
His hair is the hardest part! Take pieces of yarn, double the length that you are wanting, plus some. Wrap them around a pencil (as see in the video) and then brush the pieces of yarn out with a fine tooth comb or fine dog brush! Start at the bottom and work your way up. Meaning, comb the bottom forth of hair out, flip it over and repeat. Then comb from half way up, flip and repeat. Then 3/4 of the way up, flip and repeat. Then comb the entire length of the yarn, flip and repeat. Please see the video for a visual!
Then take Elmer's glue or mod podge and put a strip down on a piece of plastic of some sort. Cut the "hair" as close to the know as possible and lay it, neatly, with the tip in the glue. This will be the "root" of the hair. Once fully dry, carefully peel it away from the plastic. Cut the rough edges away to give it a nice straight, clean edge. Be sure not to cut all of the glue off.
Then you can attach it to the doll!
Tip: you can use a straightner on low to flatten the hair and make it look more sheen and put together. I skipped this step because I wanted his hair to be a bit messy.
Then you are all done!!

So once your done do you spray the doll with some kind of clear coat so the paint doesn't come off if it gets wet etc

Cute project! My question to you is, why didn't you just hot glue tuffs of "hair" in sections rather than doing a line of slow drying regular glue? You ended up gluing the lines of hair to the head anyway. It would have eliminated one step and speeded up the process for you. I glue mohair in tuffs and strips to masks and props with either hot glue or acrylic caulk (depending on the materials being used). Like I said, I think this is such a cute project. :)

Thank you! I personally just feel like it gives me more control over the hair placement and gives me reassurance that I didn't miss any spot where the hair could end up falling out. Just personal preference.

I think it would work temporarily, but I don't think it would be a good permanent option. With how much work you put into it, I would recommend Elmer's glue or mod podge!

Oh no! Usually, if this happens to me, it's because it is too hot when I'm spraying them! I use and old piece of wood or cardboard to spray them outside, then bring them in the house to dry properly in room by themselves with the windows open for ventilation! Hopefully that helps!
