How to make a Jarrarium?
Clear glass jar
Potting soil
Sand
Pebbles for decoration
Pennywort plant
Cherry shrimp
Water
Note:
-15 minute acclimation is provided for the cherry shrimp
-Do not use direct tap water, dechlorinate it by leaving at least overnight or use a dechlorination solution (available in most aquarium shop)
-Keep the pH (water, soil and sand) at 7, or based on aquatic life requirement.

How often do you change the water? Your setup is gorgeous and the lines of separation are so well defined! I’ve made this without the shrimp (wife is afraid of them! 😅 )

Changing the water is not necessary, unless you want to for clarity purposes. Just topping it up with dechlorinated water is all that is required.

Our jar is too small for guppies. Water replacement is usually done partially. No change in soil.

It is very difficult for the plat to survive without any holding medium unless it is a floating plant

I saw videeos where pennywort was just floating in a terracotta pot, and there were happy guppies in it aswell. So I guess pennywort would be fine, but still, it is going to need nutritients in the water to be healthy

If the tank is big you have to add fishes as well. For small jar like this shrimp can manage the mosquito larvae.
