Tropical Storm Helene passed through Western North Carolina on September 27, 2024, causing widespread devastation.
The Pensacola and Cattail Creek communities of Yancey County experienced heavy damage due to high winds, landslides, and flooding.
The Pensacola United Methodist Church sustained heavy damages and is now on the long road of recovery.
