Well I suppose the more accurate way to say that is, I'm in love with the nib but I very much enjoy the pen as well of course! Patreon: / pensandtea Discord: / discord Instagram: / pens_and_tea

Might have been Jim Rouse who tuned the nib. I was lucky enough to meet him while he tuned a couple of my FC pens at the 2017 DC Pen show. He also did the SIG nibs for FC. Or it might have been Michael Masuyama who did most of the FC specialty grinds at that time. Definitely a keeper either way!

When you said, "...the shimmering goodness of it..." - -- Parker almost stole the show! Ha, Parker : no more attacks on your owner, or you'll be looking at the Pen, an I don't mean a writing instrument. That pen's a ripper ; love clipless caps, but snap caps kill me. It's over. Lol.

Tooth I've found in my FP journey that my tastes change over time. Therefore I don't see the point selling pens I don't initially like. I'll put them away and revisit them years later. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't. Works the other way too...sometimes I think I really like something (might be recency bias) but then over time I realize I don't really like them. And so the cycle continues. (And I have rationale for my hoarding tendencies) All that to say I initially liked my stub (TWSBI) for short transcription projects, but they don't work for long form journaling/letter writing for me. Great for headers, but not for "regular" writing. I enjoy thinner stubs if I have to use a stub for "regular" writing. But again, I'll prob never get rid of that TWSBI stub since I'm sure I'll circle back to it again in the future. Hope your day is better tomorrow :)

I only have a few shimmer inks and I usually leave the shimmer on the bottom of the bottle to use the basic ink. Edited to add Tooth

My favorite FC is the Model 20 Vintage Green with a Nagahara Fine Cursive Italic - so crisp!! If I remember correctly the reason for the recessed nib is to get your grip closer to the nib/paper. Tooth!

My two Franklin Christoph pens, a 20 and an 02, are easily the finest, most elegant, and most comfortable pens I own. It took years before I got the hang of the broad gold cursive italic on one of them, but it was worth the wait. The other, with a broad steel nib, was soft and perfect from the start. I'm glad you've come to appreciate yours.

Tooth. I had the same experience with a Lamy 2000 cursive italic. In the beginning I hated it : a lot of skipping when i wrote. I thought they sent me a pen with a faulty nib. But once I got the trick I started to love it. It gives so much more character to your writing.

First of all, tooth. 😁 I’m new to the FP rabbit hole. As of now, my preference is towards the EF-M size nibs. I recently got a TWSBI Mini Vac with a 1.1 stub. I didn’t care for it and replaced it with a EF nib. I will keep the nib and try it again in a year to see if my feels/taste has changed. BTW, good on you for pulling though your bad and making this video. I hope it improved your day.

Tooth. I don’t have any true cursive italic, which are, as you noted, very crisp and position dependent. However, just about all my favorite pens now have fine cursive SMOOTH italics on them, which gets you almost there, but without quite as much position dependence. I simply love a CSI nib. I can see how you would like that FC, as it has very similar colors to your Bourbon Benu. Hang in there with the mental health. We appreciate you.

Kerry, thanks for showing the FC 20 I have the 31 and it has the #6 recessed nib also, but a bigger girthier pen which I would swap for the 20 size. But the snap cap on that one stops me.

Loving the WonderPens content. I would say my custom grinds from Franklin-Christoph are my absolute favourite nibs. I have a bunch of SIG grinds and Nagahara stubs from FC. When Matthew Chen was at WonderPens during the Scriptus weekend, had him grind a gold FC nib to his crisp italic and I am SHOCKED how much I enjoy it. Like you said, it forces me to slow down a little, but the writing experience is just so fun! My most recent nib is an EF flex, ebonite feed with a SIG grind and I am in love!!

🦷Tooth🦷 all kind of cursive italic nibs was my favourite 'alternative' nibs for a long time. Years ago (like 25+) I used to love the Lamy joy for everyday writing. İt was the only pen I could readily find with the 1.1 1.5 and 1.9 nibs. So cursive nibs got to be a very easy and pleasant transition. I can't remember clearly if my first one was from Mike Masuyama or Marc Bacas but they are still some of my best writers today. Fast forward to now, I have many more faves when it comes to special grinds. But cursive italics are my go to if I want a little spice in a pen's nib. My natural hand writing is very suited for cursive and oblique grinds (the O nibs are my second love btw😊), so I am usually very comfortable in long form writing with them. This is great as these nibs give a beautiful character to any writing

Tooth! I love me some cursive italic but don’t have any what are quite that crisp. Hm. Maybe I’ll consider that next time instead of a SIG, with which I have a love-hate relationship. Beautiful pen! Love that material.

Mike Massuyama used to do all the custom grinds for FC. The torch has since passed, but if you got it a few years ago it was probably him.

I love my Franklin Christoph. I studied calligraphy years ago (very rusty now) so am used to sharp Italic nibs. I was going to go for the fine cursive Italic my with my FC (Mine’s model 02, “Intrinsic”), but FC had sold it out. So, I went with the SIG (stub italic gradient), which is a little kinder regarding grip rotation. I’m very happy with my choice. The SIG has less tooth than the Cursive Italic, but still a bit.

Yeah Franklin Kristoph why you gotta make the nib feed so deep inside the grip section talk about a bloop master 2000 NO thank you I gave my model 32 away cause it blooped every time and just nope so ... I totally get it

The model 20 is one of my favorites. Maybe your nib is the Nagahara Italic? There are a declining number of these still available. Tooth.

not a huge fan of the inset nib on my fc 20 but that being said it's my fav pen. i have the fine sig but writes fairly close to the fci you have but a tad smoother with great line variation. one of my few pens that doesnt dry out after a two months of not using it, seals well and uncaps easy enough once you get the hang of it

1. Hey there's a CAT in this video! 2. No cursive italic but I did briefly have a very crisp architect. It liked to cut up the paper and also it turned out that I had no use for it so I gave it away. I love my round nibs.

Beautiful pen. Spectacular nib. I'd like to try a crisp cursive italic but because I'm a lefty I think the grind would differ. I am an underwriter so I have that in my favor but I'd have to talk to a nib meister to clarify that. Thanks for sharing and give Parker a rub under her chin for me.

Lady, to fill a converter the best is to have a syringe with the needle and fill the converter using the syringe. That's how I do it, never the pen in the ink bottle. Never have to clean the nib of the pen, never have difficulty with low level ink on the bottle, really simple and effective, mess free.
