Problem solved but... Your video was very helpful, I ordered the keypad and replaced it. Hint, I just removed the panel on the keypad side, removed the old keypad, unplugged it, and pulled it out. Then: slid the connector of the new keypad through the slot (do not remove the protective paper from the sticky part yet), connect it to the board, test, remove the protective paper, align and press it; and you're done (or so I thought). To my surprise, I was still unable to turn the heater off; the new keypad did not solve the issue, and the service light remained on. But, because you showed us how to test the Stack Flue Sensor (Thank You) I tested it with the old keypad. So I ordered one because it showed a funny reading 0f 498 degrees F. With the new keypad installed, it was still showing the same reading. So I kept the new keypad, and also replaced the Stack Flue Sensor; that fixed the problem. Conclusion: a Keypad that will not turn off your Pentair 400 while your service light is on may be related to a BAD Stack Flue Sensor. I hope this helps!

Thanks Richard, glad it helped. I found after I made this that, if you run a zip tie from underneath and through the opening where the plug-in cable goes, you can tape the cable to the zip tie and pull it through without taking the top off.

@@janm291 Sorry Jan, just saw this comment. You might have received a bad pad. Other than that, it may be a connection in the circuit board or bad board. Also check the wires coming off the board.

Hi Jay, my membrane off button is not working too. Prolly need to replace it as well. Since it’s not turning off. This means the heater system is not going to heat up either the pool or the spa right? I notice when i turned on my pump that’s where it turned on the heater.

I did not have a spa hooked up to my heater so not sure what your configuration looks like. There might be a way your system separates the pool from the spa. Make sure you check that out first. However, if you only have 1 membrane switch it must control both.

Great video. I’m getting an r13 code. The heater will turn on for a little while and then shut off. I’ve read that it could be a bad membrane pad. Wondering if you had this same issue with your heater. Thanks!

I believe that's the flu stack sensor, which is super easy, you can get them on Amazon for like 10 bucks

Thanks for the video. Question for ya… when you hold down the heater off button until it displays program settings AD1 or AD0 and SF1 or SF0 … what do those settings do?

Hi Zac, I have not seen those codes on my unit but, it seems they have something to do with the Stack Flue Sensor. @@jaygreco5864 sorry it’s not a code per say like one you get as an error it was seen after holding down heater off for 5seconds. Seems to be a programming feature you enter and I can’t seem to find anything about it online or operations manual.
