apparently Kevin was backstage as he had just performed his Cello solo and was putting it away :)

Kevin was there. He was putting away his cello from the previous solo performance which is why they put in a short classical piece before the song. It gave him time to step off stage with the cello and return. You can hear him beatboxing in the song. When he came back, Scott moved down and Kevin performed at the far right of the stage ... unseen by the camera.
