The reason that i love this show is that you can look in the background at the other groups and they are cheering as hard as the audience. It just seems like such a community of friends rather than a competition

I'll always think that the Video Killed the Radio Star performance is where everything "clicked" for them. They were struggling a bit to find their true identity and once they found it they never looked back! Incredible performances week after week and the fact that the group is still together (minus Avi :c) is a testament to how talented they are

Probably because they all have suck a crucial role. Whereas in other larger groups like this some people don't have as large a role.

I love watching them evolve as a group as they do these. At the beginning it was so centered around Scott being the lead singer, and Kirstie being the female back-up. They hadn't developed as a friend group yet, hadn't found their group style, just as a music group. They didn't have their individual relationships, Mitch and Scott didn't have their amazing inseperable friendship, Mitch wasn't quite so Mitch-y, and they still try to have matching outfits. You can watch their group dynamic change throughout their career, as friends, musicians, and just people in general, all of them discover themselves so much throughout the career of Pentatonix, and I'm sure they will continue to grow, and I'm so proud of them and so happy I get to watch them evolve.

Mitch and Scott had been friends since 4th grade, and Kirstie friends with those 2 since high school, so yes they had that friendship, but it got stronger as the group evolved.

See the thing I really love about PTX is that, even right from the start they aren't only EXTRAORDINARILY talented, it's not just about the singing - they're so close that they move as one and are just the most perfect match ever for each other. The judges knew they would win from the top, *almost* for sure. Besides the fact that they are just good as hell, they are completely innovative. No one has ever done what they did with A Capella, this electronic sound and everything. Plus, they are extremely commercial, and the judges, want it or not, have to take that in account, they got 5 different styles, looks, personalities, so anyone can identify with at least one. It's like they're a supergroup made to be awesome on purpose!

This post is 11 years after this video was posted and i can say their success skyrocketed them into places they never thought or dreamed of going. This is pure music. No instruments are needed to down out horrible voices. These are great voices in unison and tune with each other. keeping their harmony flowing smoothly. Time together has done them well.

Some of the sounds are made on inhalations, but yeah ... he never stops. The amount of total body energy it takes to beatbox is amazingly higher than most people realize. To do it while also doing complex choreography, and to do it as well as he does... are both amazing. Imagine this world we live in where we can see this any time we want. 100 years ago, seeing a world class musician was the highlight of someone's life.
