I think during a competition they want to be as consistent as possible. They want the judges to have a clear idea of who they are. If they had switched up the leads to much and the crowd didn't love it just as much they could have been eliminated. It's safer to just have Scott be lead for most songs during the competition.

I think they all are fully capable of taking the lead vocally, I do however think Scott is the best Performer on stage and he killed it every time.

It has more to do with their formation. Kirstie, Mitch and Scott had been singing together for years through school and had a foundation together. They found Kevin on KZbin and Avi through one of Scott's friends. The first time all five were together was the day before auditions.

I remember this season so well. PTX seemed so far ahead of the rest of the groups from the very start. On top of that, they just kept getting better. No one else even had a shot.

i had to remind myself to physically relax during "dog days are over" it was that intense of an experience for me. i mean, holy shit that arrangement was brilliant by itself, but the delivery sent it over the edge. the best group definitely won. all of the groups were talented, but PTX has such an amazing understanding of music, even their slower song "stuck like glue" to recongnize that the syncopation of the melody line lent itself to a reggae backbeat is simply brilliant.

dog days was their best in all they did on the show and I think that really handed them the win. without you I think was the worst they did just because they were off and tired sounding etc. im just so happy they are still doing so great.

Dao Mi Nic You know, Dog Days was an EXALLENT performance, but actually Lets Get It On was their favorite to preform and was their best performance, because the house was all standing ovation and so were all three judges, might I add all judges were speechless even Ben, I mean really Ben always seemed to be tough on them.

It's fun to watch all three parts and see the group evolved. But what's interesting is comparing to American Idol. I watched one season of that show, and it seemed the contestants had real challenges developing stage presence and confidence. PXT never seemed to have that issue, and what I've seen from the new season of The Sing Off, makes me wonder if accapella groups put more effort into being professional entertainers instead of dreaming being a famous singer.

I honestly think Dog Days won them the competition. Watching all of these compilations back to back a few months after the actual show reminded me of how far they came, and how purely talented each of them are. I love seeing this, and the videos posted on their channel. Avi & Kevin (aka Meat & Potatoes), Mitch "The Secret Weapon", Kirstie & Scott just blow me away.

When I listen to them perform I always think "holy crap, the song is filled with sounds" then I look at them performing, I just go "Oh my god. It must be super hard continuously singing and beatboxing"

It's so awesome to see how they've grown closer as a group during the show... you can see in their later performances, they look at each other and smile a lot as they're performing. That's one of my favorite things about watching them perform. :)

I think the way you describe it is the only way it could be. Still feels to me like the mystery voice continues after Avi hits the bass on the 9th count but my mind could just be putting it there. At any rate these guys feel like the Beatles of a capella to me. Taking a format that's been around forever and blowing the doors off it. I know that's a bold statement considering I haven't heard any original work from them yet, but they are just so incredible it feels like the right comparison.

I've listened to all three parts constantly all day yesterday since I got home from school! I could never possibly get sick of Pentatonix! A Cappella has always been the sole and only way I listen to any pop music and Pentatonix tops any group I've heard with their wonderful medleys and remixes! I hear their songs so many times in a row, yet they give me goosebumbs everytime! I love Avi and Kevin the most! Their talents are the rarest out of all of them, but Scott, Kirstie, and Mich all are wonderful performers and can't wait for their new songs!

Mitch has such a great high tenor voice!! Scott has a great tenor voice. Kirstie has a great soprano/alto voice. Avi has a GREAT bass voice. And Kevin has a great... ummm... beatbox voice!!

christian lacy They weren't spread out that much at all and this show does really wear out the groups. All singing competitions really turn into endurance tests; the constant practicing, rehearsing, and performing can get pretty intense. Kirstie's voice did sound tired. It's not an insult. It just gives a little insight into how tough this show really is.

Tbh Mitch's solo during "without you" saved the song in my opinion lol. They were little bit off key in the beggining but I guess it was some technical issue, not their fault and it got a lot better at the end lol

it's a special kind of vocalization (also known as throat singing) where you're essentially producing more than one pitch at the same time - a higher melodic tone over a deep resonant hum. It's used by many native cultures and the music they produce is really hypnotic! In this age of auto-tuning and digital fx what he's doing simply with his throat is astounding.
