Yes it said that Brian May of Queen has shared this song with quite a few people he knows if that's not a seal of approval right there I don't know what is. Also other songs by PTX that you may like are "can you feel the Love Tonight", "The sound of silence", "hallelujah", "amazing Grace" and "imagine". These are all cover songs of course, but they are still well worth listening too much like" Bohemian Rhapsody" is. And before I forget loved your reaction love the fact that you had a smile on your face throughout the whole time you were listening to this.

The smile on your face on the opening notes said it all!! Pretty mind-blowing, huh? I was 11 years old when the Queen original was released, and I remember it completely blowing me away. When I heard this Pentatonix version for the first time, I got that same feeling again!

Kevin (the man with black skin) is the beat boxer, a tenor and cellist of the group. Avi (the man with a beard) is the original bass of the group (he left the group in 2017 and helped find his replacement Matt). Mitch is a tenor of the group (he has the solo for much of this cover). Scott (the tall blonde man) is the baritone of the group. Kirstin (the only woman of the group) is a mezzo soprano.

Oh,my. Daft Punk, dance of the sugar plum fairy, new rules/are you that somebody?, and for something totally different, listen to their original song “Thank You”. Scott wrote it with his partner for the holiday season...you’ll see him on the piano and Kevin on the cello. How do you write a Christmas song for the horrible year of 2020? They accomplished it beautifully.

Great reaction. You mentioned that if Freddie was still around, he would be proud, well Brian May enjoyed this so much he shared it on his social media. You're about to fall down the Pentatonix rabbit hole, this group is nothing short of phenomenal. They have an extensive catalog of both covers AND originals dating back to 2011. One note, the videos you've reacted to so far are with the group's original bass, Avi Kaplan, he amicably left the group in 2017 for personal reasons, and helped pick his replacement, Matt Sallee, who you will see in any videos from 2017 on. That has been the only change. The lead vocal in this song, Mitch Grassi, and the young lady, Kirstin Maldonado, both change their looks often and they may seem like different people, they're the same two. I won't recommend any of their music because frankly my list would include everything they've done. Just browse their videos, pick ANY one, and enjoy!

Brian May posted this video on his Facebook page a number of times, so PTX definitely got the Queen vote of approval. BTW, the bit with the starry sky was a tip of the hat to Brian, who is an Astrophysicist in his 'day job.' PTX held off on doing this for several years, until they felt they could 'do it right.'

Hello Tauri. Top row on couch is Kirsten in CUTE HEELS & Fishnets& Mitch & Scott. Bottom is Kevin the beatboxer & Avi the Bass. However, in 2017 Avi had to leave to take care of family AFTER they found Matt to replace him. By the way, the switch from one ear to the other is exactly what Queen did with it too.

Welcome to the ranks of the Pentaholics! We hope you enjoy your stay (we know you will). My recommendation for PTX songs would be Come Along, Sound of Silence, Daft Punk, and Imagine. On a note unrelated to Pentatonix, theres an older rock group called Flyleaf. Id love to see your reaction to them If hou havent seen them before (I haven’t listened to them in a few years so Im unsure how popular they are). Some of my favorite songs from them are Cassie, All Around Me, I’m So Sick, and Fully Alive.

the one thing to remember about PTX is that when they do a mashup...cover or an original they will either match the song or surpass it....nothing less

Tauri, you referenced the "2 beatboxers at the front"... Kevin is the beatboxer. The guy with the beard, (Avi), is the bass. Note: Avi left amicably in 2017 and was replaced by Matt, who you are yet to see. Avi leaving/Matt joining is the only change in the group since it's inception.

I love that they're able to keep basically every element of the original song intact while only using their voices! On a completely different note, Adrienne Cowan from Seven Spires just released a cover of "All I Ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera, and it's EPIC! I'd love to see a reaction to that in the future if at all possible. Keep being awesome!

I saw in one of your other videos that you said you like viking stuff, so i have a couple of odd recommendations for you. It's a couple of songs from a comedy show called horrible histories, the songs are called "garfunkel and viking" and "literally the viking song". Horrible histories was sketch show that taught kids about history (although pretty much anyone can enjoy it) it also had songs that tended to be parodies, they were very good
@ronstewart27033 жыл бұрын
The recommendations others have noted are absolutely ones you will want to check out. Someone mentioned "Sound of Silence" and you'll want to do that for it's wonderful sound and also to hear Matt Sallee who replaced Avi Kaplan as the band's bass a couple of years ago. And,, if you're looking for goosebumps, be sure to take in the PTX version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." And just for fun, "Making Christmas," the Danny Elfman composition for Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas."

Check the 6th 7th 10th and 11th performances. This contest got them happening...They bagged the win with the 10th Performance in my opinion..) More: ."The Evolution of Michael Jackson"(Awesome) from the Christmas Album; "Mary did you Know", "Amazing Grace" Scott, Mitch and Kirsty know each other since they were 8 and 10 years old. Base Avi Kaplan the guy with the beard is no longer with them but Matt last name? is now. Check Avi Kaplan playing solo album. (Awesome) i like "House of the Rising Sun", Change is Coming ?", "Aberdeen" and others. You hit a gold mine. They will increase your subscriptions. There is sooo much more... But I'll let you hear from other people. They came last week with a new Album. I am checking it out as we speak. I love them beyond WORDS!!!

I think people put Queen on such a high pedestal that people feel the need for the covers, especially bohemian rhapsody, to sound exactly the same. I am a classic rock and metal fan, but once you look behind the fact that it isn't exactly the same, you can see how they kept it close but put their own spin on it. Also the fact that this whole thing is acapella, I think they did an amazing job.
