It's just amazing to see someone get Mitch-slapped for the very first time. Individually, these are five very talented people. Collectively, they create something greater than the sum of their parts. They become something totally other, something very, very special.

I would recommend their Grammy-winning "Daft Punk", a mashup of seven songs from the electronic duo of the same name. When you watch it, know that the audio was recorded in a closet, the video was shot in an apartment kitchen, and the total budget was $400. That was the recording that convinced RCA to sign them

Loved your reaction! Suggestions for other covers they’ve done: Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Daft Punk Medley, Say Something, and Gold. Also you can’t go wrong with any of their amazing Evolution videos like Evolution of Michael Jackson, or mashups like La La Latch and New Rules x Are You That Somebody. For original music try Run to You, Sing, Can’t Sleep Love, Misbehavin, Cracked and Love Again. I promise you’ll be more and more amazed by them the more you watch!

An introduction to Pentatonix for you: Scott: the tall blonde guy in the middle with the first solo. He's the baritone of the group but has a range of about 4 octaves. He's just as comfortable harmonizing on the high notes as he is taking the bass line when Avi is singing. Speaking of which... Avi: the guy with the beanie and the second solo. He's an amazing opera trained bass and doesn't have many solo parts but he always kills it when he does sing. He left the group in 2017 on good terms with the rest of the members and helped find his replacement, Matt. Kirstin: the only female in the group, she had the third solo. She has the least solos of the main 3 that you'll find, but she always kills it when she does sing(examples are Say Something, Sound of Silence, Imagine, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, all of which are among their best work) Mitch: He's the man with the amazing voice and the final solo in this song. He's a tenor, and has a purely angelic voice. He also has an amazing range, I've heard 5 octaves before. Kevin: an AMAZING beatboxer, that's his main role, but he occasionally shows off his beautiful tenor voice (Imagine is a great example) and his skills with the cello, which he can play while beatboxing simultaneously. Pentatonix got their start on an old competition show called the Sing Off where acapella groups competed against each other for a $200,000 cash prize and a recording contract. Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch sang in choir together in school and have been best friends since they were teenagers. They found Avi through a friend and Kevin through one of his "cello boxing"(playing the cello and beatboxing) videos that went viral. They won the competition, you can still find the performances on KZbin. It's amazing to watch them grow throughout the show. Unfortunately, the record label dropped them shortly after they moved out to make music, so they persevered and self produced for a while until they were picked up by another label. They are the only acapella group to ever win a Grammy, and they have won 3: for their Daft Punk medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene ft. Dolly Parton. They're an amazing group, every one of them is one of the most talented singers in the world, and they have never released a bad song imo. Yes they do sound the same live, and yes it is all acapella. They never use instruments except for the occasional use of a cello when they feel it enhances the song (like their covers of Radioactive, Say Something, and Perfect). They have a rule that if they can't do it live they can't release it. I recommend all 3 songs above, Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Sound of Silence, and anything else you want to hear! Their Grammy winners are all insanely good. Welcome to musical bliss!

Welcome to the new world of a capella. Pentatonix and Home Free have rewritten the book on a capella worldwide. All of the suggestions for more songs to listen to are great. Pentatonix has 3 Grammys, one for their "Daft Punk Medley" (Daft Punk), one for their" Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" (Tchaikovsky), and one for basically being Dolly Parton's backup band(?) on "Jolene". Also, try "Imagine" (John Lennon), "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Queen), "Mad World" (Tears for Fears), and of course, any of their Christmas music. For Home Free may I recommend their "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Ring of Fire" (Johnny Cash), my favorite, "Helplessly Hoping" (Crosby, Stills & Nash) (and then a quarantined Italian Youth Choir's cover of Home Free's arrangement), and of course any of their Christmas music.

Welcome! You have discovered the epitome of acapella music. There are other excellent groups but none reach the levels of harmonic complexity of PTX. I've been following them for years. Their voice control and range have developed over time just as their harmonies have. While their arrangements are complicated, they make them so that they can replicate the sound live. To see this, you can watch a live version of this very song from their live Christmas program on NBC in 2018. You literally cannot go wrong by simply choosing whichever of their songs tickles your fancy. You might consider "Amazing Grace", "Imagine" or "Sound of Silence", or, if you're a Disney fan 😉 "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". If you pause to comment with a certain frequency you can usually avoid being blocked.

Brilliant reaction. Loved it. Top tip not to get blocked is to make the video you're reacting to 1/5 or less the size of the screen, and pause often. PTX videos are notorious for getting blocked, so its worth doing what you can straight off to prevent it. As for suggestions - as a metal head you may appreciate Bohemian Rhapsody. As for anything else, go look at their channel and just pick something that takes your fancy. They have over 200 vids to pick from so you won't be lacking for choice. Once again, great reaction. Please do more.

I've been listening to them for years and have yet to find a bad video. Personally I prefer the pre 2017 stuff as in my opinion Avi is a much better bass than Matt. Matt is great, but Avi is Awesome.

Oh, the look on your face when they all stopped singing and Mitch (counter tenor in the hat) came in with the last lead. I've seen so many reactors have that exact same type of reaction the first time hearing him. We call it being Mitch slapped. I reminds me of how I felt the first time and that is part of what us Pentaholics love about watching reactors discovering PTX. They are amazing. 3 Grammy Awards, multiple sold out world tours, and so much more. They really redefined the world of acapella and brought it into the modern age. I look forward to watching more from you. (Do make sure to pause plenty and make original content/comments as YT and RCA Records are both very strict about blocking their videos with reactors)

Welcome to the Pentaholics!! :) I'm completely in love with everything these guys do. As others have said, please check out "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Daft Punk," among others. Also, since you asked about other artists and said that you like acapella groups, please check out my boys that started in my state of Minnesota, Home Free. They are kind of a "country flavored" acapella group, but they do many genres. Their bass, Tim Foust, makes his home in that same subterranean range as Avi Kaplan, the bass you heard in this song (who is no longer with Pentatonix). Both are insanely amazing in that ultra-low register. Also, Home Free's beatboxer/human percussion machine Adam Rupp is flat-out not human. I suggest you start with my favorite song of theirs, "Do You Hear What I Hear?"...and then check out "Man of Constant Sorrows," "Ring of Fire" (featuring Avi Kaplan), "How Great Thou Art," "All About That Bass," and pretty much everything else they do. Have fun!!

For tears, listen to their Christmas original called "Thank You". Scott wrote it with/for his partner and sings the lead throughout (which is a bit unusual for Pentatonix as they almost always share leads), but it's the subtle harmonies of the group and the nostalgic/emotional lyric that brings out the tears.

Oh, definitely watch their first two Grammys (dance of the sugarplum fairy (that's Tchaikovsky) and daft punk, which was recorded completely at home in a 400$ budget). Also, their rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody is ridiculous! How have they done that??? You gotta watch. Imagine is a great cover too, beautiful video. They have a member change, this awesome bass leaves (his solo career is great), but the new one is also amazing and is in Sound of silence, another recommendation. Do more pauses, maybe write something on the screen, so you don't get copyrighted. Their record label is annoying with this, but there are many ways to pass through this, every Pentatonix fan is used to it. I'm honestly here just for their reactions from now on. If you need to insert pauses we are used to it, don't worry.

Shortly before he passed Leonard Cohen, the gentleman who wrote the song, heard Pentatonix cover of his song. He said it was the best cover he had ever heard of his song. Since you are a metal head, just like myself, Try bohemian rhapsody as your next review. Freddie would be very proud. Brian may put it up on his facebook page. Daft punk Is also a go to. For harmonies check out there cover of imagine. There cover of sound of silence is also very good. You simply cannot go wrong with Pentatonix. I don't think they've ever made a bad song. You can see this live From a Christmas special. Mitch is a countertenor. Avi (Ah-vee) is a basso profundo. He can blow out speakers and in fact he did. Watch Aha Live in Singapore star vista. After 2017 matt Sallee took over the bass because Avi left on good terms for personal reasons. He has his own solo career now. Check out Avi Kaplan Change on the rise

Hi, Tauri. Have you heard of the new all-girl rock band from Korea called, "RollingQuartz" in their debut song Blaze? These girls are young and very talented!

Also I see you've reacted to a couple of Ad Infinitum songs including 'See you in hell'. Please react to 'Live before you die' and Infected monarchy along with all the songs from 'Monarchy part 1' from Ad Infinitum, candidate for album of the year.

I was beginning to fear that you wouldn't say the one word that everyone says when first hearing Pentatonix, which is "Wow!" But thankfully, you didn't disappoint.

The Sound of Silence and Shallow are also great covers by them. You really can’t go with any song by them.

Thank you for the great reaction. Pentatonix are amazing and redefined what A Capella groups can do. They cover a lot of Pop songs, but also do original songs and Christmas songs too. For something completely different, try Daft Punk. For something on the same level as this song, try The Sounds of Silence, or Amazing Grace. Thanks again. Your reactions are always top notch.

Hi Tauri I was one of several of your subs suggesting Pentatonix. They really are a little off the charts. I was confident that you would like them and I think you will see some additional members to channel. (thumbs up !! ) I read thru some of the comments and I agree with them. They do this to this level on every song they record. They just don't have any so-so songs. I know this sounds like hyperbole I assure it is not. There ability to create this ear candy art is just insane. You grew up in the UK, I will guess that you are familiar with Boeheim Rhapsody ? Their A Capella version is nuts . Not kidding You will not be disappointed , We love you Tauri, thanks for putting up with us. With love from Florida kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZu1m2WAgJqieas

Tauri, please react to Pentatonix doing "Daft Punk". It is the most technically stunning music you have ever heard any acapella group do. The fast tempo precision is incredible.

More metal-like would be Love Again and Daft-Punk. I see you also reacted to Lindsey Stirling, so you might want to check out Radio active as well

Hi! I love your reactions and your channel, it is one of my favourite reaction channels on KZbin. I want to request a reaction to a swedish artist called Cue. Cue or Niklas Hjulström is a singer, actor, director and owns a theater, his voice is something else, i hope you make a reaction to this song and that you like his voice aswell. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3Kpe6eqpbRqZrM Here is a link to his song Burnin’, this song is nostalgic to me, it was playing so many times on the radio when i was a child. Keep on rocking! (Though this isn’t a rock song) 🤘🤘🇸🇪

Loved the reaction :). Ptx is awesome! For another really jaw dropping accapella performance check out home free’s cover of ‘man of constant sorrow’ . Home free won ‘the song off’ the year after ptx did.
