Lovely performance but it feels a little messy at times because the sound engineers did quite a bad job balancing their mics. Mitch's mic was too low and Kirstie's pause at 2:45 was a bit too obvious but they managed to give an amazing performance as usual. Loved it and love them. :) There's me trying to sound like a critic who knows what she's talking about XD

Roxie Roberts no, you were right on it. because it is a Capella(excuse my spelling) they do rely on their mic technicians to balance them out. especially scott, mitch and Kirstie when they have those high notes for volume control. I work sound for our choir and if we are off on our timing it can throw them off or make them sound like they are off when they're not.

No you were right the mics were off balanced. The tech did an awful Job. I mean one shouldn't be louder then the other unless you sing a higher note

These comments are ludacris. I’m an a cappella engineer. This was literally one of the best mixes they’ve had for non-a cappella engineers. Yes there were a few un-balanced moments, but for the most part it was perfect. It could’ve been a bit warmer on the low-end and more width but it was great. You guys are just way too picky. And Kirstin’s pause was her breathing. It’s an agile arrangement, she needs to breathe. Surprised she actually took a breath fast enough from that tiny pause. Also, I know this is an old thread but I’m commenting for any new people that might share similar thoughts

They might’ve been trying to fix something as this is the only performance I’ve heard of there’s where they sounded flat / out of key at points. But they are true pros and know their instruments and each others’ very well. They finished with a bang!

they have to be very careful when they deal with Avi's mic. His frequency is so low that if the mic isn't set just right it'll blow the speakers.

I'm a big fan of Avi and his epic bass, but I just find it werid in that he's doesn't seem to have problems singing Christian songs even though he's Jewish. Maybe he just has respect for other people's religion.

Why Kirstie's mic so loud? It overpowered Mitch's mic. I might be imagining this but I can't really hear him but there echoes of their voices that are really annoying

Their mice are balanced, the only reason why Kirsties mic sounds so obvious is because she's the only one with a feminine tone.... Yes Mitch has a very high pitched voice but he still holds masculinity in his vocal tone. Kirsties voice is just feminine, therefore it is more apparent!

It's the reverb... Too Much reverb, that's why you saw some of them trying to remove their ear pieces.

You have obviously never heard PTX live or been present when Avi blows a speaker. I'm not comparing anyone to anyone, I'm simply saying that discounting any musician off of what you hear from a digital playback isn't the same as experiencing music in person, and I tell you it is truly different.

Wat? I'm a Take 6 fan, and also a PTX fan, but you can't compare both, T6 doesn't have a great beatbox like kevin, and PTX does dance, dubstep, and T6 is all jazz (is the most of the time), PTX can make songs for soprano to bass, and T6 don't do it (but I sure they can). PTX is as amazing as T6, ans sometimes, they are better

I agree, but usually when it sounds off it's actually not them, it's the balance on the mics. I've noticed that TV shows seem to mess it up often so they don't sound great :/ but if you look at concert recordings it's on point 👌

I noticed errors aside from mic balance: Kirstin sounded flat at parts of this performance, and Avi's timing felt a bit off during his solo. But they didn't let their mistakes stop them, and they still sounded really good overall. Their recent live performances are more polished than this one, and I think that's a credit to how they've grown.
