Kevin and Avi wrote this song. The harmonies are beautiful. The lyrics really hit you in the feels.

I always think of a snow globe when I watch this. One of my favorites. This and their Amazing Grace are going to be played when my ashes are spread.
@janetlawson44823 жыл бұрын
Ashes are falling and rising, a long live died and the survivor wants to Run To You, in other words they want to die as well to be with their love, lyrics mean everything.

There is a lot to take in. Maybe after reading the comments and explanations you will want to give this a second listen without the distraction of reacting. It's hauntingly beautiful, written by Kevin and Avi and a lot of work put into what is a seemingly simple portrayal.

So hauntingly beautiful! 💖 This song is now being sung by high school and college vocal competitions & choir concerts, as is their version of Winter White Hymnal.

The "snow" that floats up is actually them running it backwards. They learned how to mouth the lyrics backwards so it looks like they are actually singing forwards while the "snow" appears to fall up.
@susanpeterson99473 жыл бұрын
Actually I doubt that very much. For an effect like that, you drop it in front of a green screen, reverse parts of that video and overlay it on top of the singers.
@livus37873 жыл бұрын
@@susanpeterson9947 look at how they blink at that part. Definitely reversed (normally the eyelids close quick and open up a bit slower, here slow closeing and fast opening)
@wyolinus3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely reversed...there is an old interview out there somewhere where they talk about how difficult it was learning the backwards lip synch for the video

For a good contrast between Avi and Mitch, you should watch Aha-Singapore-The Star Vista.

I would think the imagery is more in line with the ashes of a burned relationship rather than snow.

If you haven't already reacted to it yet, you really should listen to Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. It really showcases the difference between Avi and Mitch vocally speaking, as if it isn't already obvious, with the highs and the lows. It's an acapella song without words with no instruments. How cool is that! Also won them their second Grammy Award! Also very very cool.

Yes, this is an original, written by Avi and Kevin. This has to be one of the most stunningly beautiful ballads ever written. Pentatonix's originals are just as good (and in many cases BETTER) than their covers. When they perform this song in concert, they do so with only one microphone sitting in front of them on the floor and the audience in total silence. It's quite emotionally stunning.

It's cool Mitch gets those high spot, he's so good. There is a video out there of Kirstie going up a scale and hitting whistle notes that are insanely high they sound like whistles. Their ranges are insane.

i was quite surprised at your lack luster reaction to which many of us pentaholix think is one if not the only original ballad with amazing heart felt lyrics, did you actually listen you them ? every time i listen to it (which is inumberable times) i get the same goose bumps i had after hearing it for the first time. yours confused !!

It's them in corporeal form. Each member, when it's their part, you'll see their corporeal form in the background

for other gentler songs from PTX check out "Light in the Hallway" "Standing By" and "On My Way Home" all are originals and though don't have produced videos there are Live performances and the Just music or lyric videos. And when the petals/snow were rising while they were singing, they were actually lip syncing backwards so the recording could be reversed. if you look closely you can tell. Lip readers pick up on it immediately.

The PTX song Gold is great. Also Havana.

Hahahaha ... I do enjoy your reactions, especially with regard to PTX and I like the way you talk about "listening" to a specific singer, or a harmony etc. But ... well ... **Warning - personal opinions comping up ** I believe the music we listen to is composed of individuals (and or their instruments) and their individual virtuosity, the degree and way in which they blend (or contrast) each other, the composition of the music itself, the intent or themes (or feelings) being explored or projected, then there's the interpretation and or arrangement by the performers, and also something maybe you didn't listen to much in this reaction- the words ... Now each of these elements can be taken alone. And while in terms of PTX, looking at any individual aspects show true virtuosity by each individual, but also awesome compositions and arrangements. And the way in which they complement each other is quite spectacular. But maybe what makes them rather unique is how each of these elements in their songs are composed/arranged to synergize (add up to be more than a sum of the individual parts). Maybe the true "magic" of PTX is how they can use their musicality to not just take us on an emotional journey, but to let us feel directly involved in the experience. And maybe it is just my own weird way of looking at things, but all the parts of what PTX involves in their music seem done so deliberately with the purpose of it all meshing together. And well, I think you might like this song (maybe all the PTX work) even a bit more than you already seem to if things like words and storyline, melodies,, harmonies, beats, dynamic elements etc. are all parts of what you listen for and to. A song can be beautiful and just awesome and not be upbeat, or even happy. Just my personal opinion.

Actually, in this one and in most- Kirstin is totally the highest. Mitch is like a half step before her. Of course he has his solos but usually it’s Kirstin

hmmmm.....not everything they do is upbeat LOL but if you want upbeat and harmonies that involved a chromatic drop, might I suggest their cover version of Charlie Puth's "Attention"

I haven't heard anything bad from Pentatonix yet. You don't have any Home Free or Voiceplay on this channel. Do you have any on your previous channel? Also you haven't done any Diana Ankudinova reactions on this channel. Have you heard of her before? If not start with "Wicked Game". Other artists to check out, if you haven't done them on your other channel, Marcelito Pomoy, the TNT Boys, Aurora and the group Jinjer.
