Thank you for sharing, interesting images from your photo walk. I ordered one, not because I am in need of another camera that takes film, I have plenty of them, but to ensure that this film project proves successful and that further cameras with different features can be built in the future. From the positive sales initially it looks like TKO and the team will have the opportunity to continue their film camera revival. I can't wait to see what they come up with in the future, until then I will have fun learning to play with the 17

I think the camera is amazing camera. Though not for all! As a camera for documenting, for your family, to hand to friends etc it’s so nice because you don’t have to feel bad for wasted frames… It doesn’t try to be your RZ67 or your M6. It’s an advanced point and shoot luckily without autofocus!!! The perfect fit for me and I can’t wait for it to arrive.

Couldn't agree more! :) This camera is fun to shoot and approaches new audiences as well!

As a lab, you should have touched on the extra cost and headache it is to scan twin frame film.
@JuanSewDLKS4 ай бұрын
Well, precisely for them it is not a problem, their scanner can do it automatically without problems

Maybe I'm being a little harsh or overly demanding, but... if in 1966 the Olympus Pen FT could be made (I say this one and not the Pen F, because it has light metering), with incredible interchangeable glass lenses with which get bokeh without problem, completely manual, supreme quality, original in its design hiding the pentaprism, with a clean and elegant design... it is impossible to be excited about this camera, which is inferior in absolutely everything (except the weight...) . I know we live in another era, but hey, we should try to get closer to the bar of quality and design that was set in the middle of the last century...

Of course, the problem is that the industry today is not even 1% of what is used to be back in the day. The same way we can't ask Harman to manufacture Portra400 on their first attempt of color film. To look at this a continuation of the past is the wrong perspective (sadly), but instead is a new beginning in an industry (film photography) that almost disapeared (died) 10 years ago and it's slowly coming back

I for one am very disappointed in this camera. If memory serves, the Pentax Project promo videos kept emphasizing ease of use for beginners and the young crowd. Which a full auto focus point & shoot would have been the way go if you wanted to draw in so called beginners. Or something like the Nikon N55, a point & shoot SLR. You're gonna tell me things like zone focus and twin frame are things beginners are going to care about let alone even know about? That said, I will be buying one only to say, yes, I'm support the film community and want to see it survive, even if means purchasing a $500 Holga.
@spawnv25 ай бұрын
good point.. but zone focusing is not that hard even for beginners, everybody with functioning binocular vision can learn to estimate distance in a short period of time.. metering and judging exposure i think it is more challenging. Also take into account that this project is to set a platform to the other cameras that could come if this one sell good... they said they are thinking a range of cameras up until a full SLR

What a waste of money bro.these kids just like the most useless and expensive garbage. Yes it's 500.00 dollars, plus the film and development. Just get a used Olympus micro 43 with a nice prime, and a pocket Kodak printer for 250.00 all together

I think Pentax had a real chance to contribute to the revival and preservation of film photography but instead, they chose to make a toy. Shame on you Pentax!
@VariTimo5 ай бұрын
It’s not a toy it’s just a camera for beginners. It’s very well made and it seems to work reliably with a very good lens. Spend some time researching the project. It’s the first step. And it makes sense because point and shoots are the first cameras dying but also the easiest access point for new photographers. This a camera for new photographers, not necessarily for people who already have their go to film camera.
@davidkachel5 ай бұрын
@@VariTimo The only thing lacking on this toy is a sticker that says, "Barbie". It is a joke, and Pentax should be completely ashamed of themselves.

looks like a beautiful camera to me (and I own several). I'm sure they will make one for advanced photographers soon. But it makes sense to make a beginner one first.
@robblincoln21525 ай бұрын
@@slowbot68 exactly-think of this as the proof of concept. If the 17 does well it will open the door to greater risks and opportunities. Now that they have begun to rebuild their manufacturing capabilities, they can move on to more challenging, advanced cameras. Personally I am hoping for a 6x6 rangefinder or perhaps a revival of the 67 SLR.
