I am heavily invested in Pentax 67 system lenses, which can be largely adapted to use on the 645 bodies. I considered buying a 645 several times as a more convenient body option, but never did. My aversion to the 6345 is its lack of mid-roll interchangeable film backs. (The idea of mid-roll film insert changes using a darkroom or changing bag seems ridiculous on its face.) As I aged into my 70s, I did buy 645 for more manageable options, but I elected to go with the Fuji GA645Zi with my existing GS645W.

Fuji actually had a DX-like system for 120 film for use in their late 90s/early 2000s medium format cameras (and the Contax 645).

You do such wonderful reviews of cameras. This one Is no exception. I looked intensely at this one when I was choosing a 645 camera. I ended up getting a Hasselblad H1. I chose it soley because I enjoy doing studies on the effect of different shutter speeds on moving water. The H1 has 1/3rd stops in the shutter. There are several of the most modern film cameras that has this level of mid stops in the shutter, but the others are 35mm. A few more feature 1/2 shutter stops, such as perhaps this camera from your video, and certainly the ii version. If in the future you review a camera with mid stops in the shutter, maybe you could mention it? This specification is tremendously difficult to track down. On a side note, it would be incredible to see you review the Hasselblad H1. I get so excited when you review a camera I own. It's awesome that you're doing so many videos right now. Thank you for sharing what you do.

The Pentax 645nii does have 1/2 stops in the shutter. Once you pick the shutter with the dial, the up and down arrow will show you the 1/2 stops.

Hello. Very interesting video. And I have a question about using 120 and 220 cassettes. how are these cassettes different? Can I load a 120 film into a 220 cassette. What are the nuances of this? I will be very grateful for the answer.

Well for my understanding the 220 pressure plate is thicker to allow the 220 film to pass through. (220 film has no paper backing so it needs a thicker pressure plate to keep the film flat. ) If you load 120 film in a 220 insert the advance motor is under alot more load to transport the film due to the paper backing in 120 film making the thickness too much to pull through. So essentially 120 film with the backing paper is too thick to effectively transport through the extra pressure from the plate of the 220 insert. I have read people having varying success doing it but I only use 120 inserts. I know 220 inserts are much cheaper on ebay and other sites and I think this is why. Hope that makes sense.

@@malcolmleppard2211 the 645 is a slang term the aspect ratio is 5 6 mm x 41 mm it was invented to give more images to medium format roll and to compete with 35 mm.

@@malcolmleppard2211 If the image is truly 56 x 41mm, then aren’t you just as wrong to say it is 4x5? The “slang” 645 / 6x4.5 (60 x 45cm) would be “off” by 4mm in one dimension and 4mm in the other, but your description of 4x5 (40 x 50mm) is off by 6mm in one direction and 1mm in the other. They’re both “wrong.” In fact one could argue that your “4x5” description is /more/ wrong because it is a less accurate description of the actual aspect ratio. 1.365 is the aspect ratio of the image at 56 x 41mm. A 50 x 40mm (or even just a non-specific description of “4x5”) aspect ratio is 1.25. A 60mm x 45mm (645) aspect ratio is 1.333. If you’re gonna be “rounding” by 7 or 8mm in total, it makes sense to choose the “slang” ratio of 1.333 which is closer to the actual ratio of 1.365. Your ratio of 1.25 is less accurate. Since we’re nit-picking.

it's not called six forty-five. It's called six four five and that because the size of the film frame is 6 x 4.5 centimeters. Please learn! also the Pentax 67 is called the six seven, not sixty-seven. get a clue dude.
