"Awhh, it's wet!" :-D 4:48 - 7:71 looks like a fun way to experience traversing terrain and covering distance on less established tracks in the Pentlands, it's pushing me towards getting an XC hardtail rather than a gravel bike :-)

Great video, really enjoyed that. I was walking my dog around the reservoir last summer and saw someone bombing down that second descent you covered, could well have been yourself! Nice route, will definitely check it out if it stays dryish and I sort my bike... ripped my tyre on way back from Carlops on Tuesday!

Thanks! I'm up there quite a lot so if you see me, stop and say hello. Hope you get the tyre fixed soon 👍🏻

Great video. Black Hill is the only is the only Pentlands summit I haven’t stood on. Might have to take this route as it looks very picturesque. Loved the wheelie at the end! Been cycling 25 years and still can’t do more than five yards 😂

Thanks! I'd definitely recommend getting up to the Black Hill Summit. It's usually nice and quiet up there. Beware that the first part of the descent can get quite boggy when it's been wet (most of the time!). Riding with flat pedals helped me with my wheelies as it gave me a bit more confidence that I could get a foot down if I went too far. Stick at it.

Thanks Steven, glad you liked the video. I actually did this loop again a couple of days ago and it's really muddy up the Black Hill just now so I'd maybe wait to try that trail once it's dried out a bit. Maybe see you up the hills some time 👍🏻

I've been looking for the access to Black Hill from the road a number of times, as the OS doesn't seem to be right. So over that gate and then keep to the right? Nice one

It doesn't seem to be on any maps for some reason. Over the gate and once you're across the little field and at the tree line, it's a really obvious land rover path so you can't go wrong 👍🏼

Nice hardtail, what is it? I did the 5 peaks the other day which were fantastic but I shall give this a bash this week, expecting it to be slick!

Hi! This was my Pace RC127 hardtail. It was a brilliant bike but I've recently built up a new Stanton Switch9er which I'm riding now (there's a vid of that on my channel). The 5 peaks is a great route and it's good when the weather's been wet because it's mostly rocky. I'll be making a video of that the next time there is a calm day and I've got time to do the route. The Black Hill will definitely be muddy just now so the rut at the start of the singletrack might be sketchy. It's a great route though so I hope you enjoy it! Cheers
