I’m an old head and I’ve watched b-ball for over 40 years. It’s not just about Caitlin Clark. Women’s college basketball in general play a more traditional brand of basketball that I enjoy watching more than the men’s. Years ago, men’s college basketball used to be where you went to watch and learn how to play the game, but now it’s become more like the NBA game with players just trying to showcase their own talent, with ISO ball and chucking up 3’s at every clip and not playing as a team. Until that changes which it may never, I’m sticking with women’s basketball. I’m even signing up for the WNBA league pass to watch Caitlin Clark and others who are coming into the league.

You are 100% correct on many accounts. I never saw a women's college basketball game until last year during the tournament. Caitlin has pulled the eyes to the game. I can say I watched almost all the tournament games with USC,SC,UCLA, Oregon st, U Conn, Stanford, VA Tech. Notre Dame, and of course Iowa. Without Clark I would never have watched any of these games. On a side note haven't watched any men's games couldn't name 3 players. On the women's side I could rattle of at least 40. As for Beukers, she is as good as Caitlin but not as flashy or aggressive. It will be interesting to see what happens when Caitlin is gone. As for me, I've found a new sport to get excited about. I'm sure the eyes will not be as plentiful next year but right now freshman, JuJu, mikalah Williams, Hannah Hildago, Carly Strack, KK Arnold, Ashlyn Shade, Madison Booker, Audi Crooks, and a host more bear watching. You are right. This is their window. Let's hope they take full advantage.

We're starting to see schools like LSU, Iowa, South Carolina which is becoming almost a dynasty. I wouldn't say blue blood level yet. Maybe two more national titles would put them over that hump UCLA USC but compared to the men, the talent has finally caught up in the mid majors where you have more of those upsets where you have like a Princeton or a Yale or Oakland that can upset your top seeds, your major programs, and even your blue blood programs.

@foxsportsradio Chris you said that you expected to be more interested in the women's but have been more i to the mens. I have a theory why. The first couple rounds of mens basketball are more attractive because the potential underdog. The viewership declines as the men's continues. The women's tournament is the other way around. Less eyes are on the early rounds than there are on the later rounds. Fans want to see the best women's teams and players to make it into the later rounds. I never got into women’s basketball, unless it was one of the local teams like LSU, or LaTech, both of which had pretty solid teams in the past… and the only reason I watched women’s basketball recently is because of last year‘s championship game. Clark, from Iowa was being put in the front of all the news as the next great thing in women’s basketball. When the media wants you to know something they put it in your face without you asking for it and since she got beat last year it just seems like they want to prop her up even more and spend the whole season talking about her to no end. (I don’t even search for anything women’s basketball related and I’m always getting suggestions for it especially stuff related to her 😅) If anything, I think people just get tired of seeing that one person constantly being showcased all the time and just start rooting against him or her. So, with all of that said, I’ll be rooting against her one more time before she goes off into the WNBA and everything will be back to normal😂😅

The University of South Carolina have been selling out for years. The freshman Fulwiley is much more exciting a player than Caitlyn Clark. This is just like women's track and field, a certain demographics continually hyped up Abby Steiner and looked what happened in the end. She couldn't even make the National Team, and she will never make the Olympics in an individual event. Clark will not win an NCAA Title.

I don’t get why this matters. Women’s college basketball has been on the upswing since before Clark, and Men’s college basketball on the downswing. Fan base affiliation has more resonance in women’s collage bball than the men’s. Perhaps it will change, but it’s like-why watch the top six men’s players in the college game when you can watch 5 guys the same age (or younger) put up 20+ per night in the pro game? (There are reasons, but that kind of sentiment explains some of the drift away from men’s college.) I don’t know if the growing popularity will go away with Clark, but I don’t care either. My manhood wouldn’t be threatened by it-which is something that, let’s be honest, explains a lot of interest in this topic-but I don’t watch any women’s basketball. I only follow the NBA now, and lately only that towards the end of the season and playoffs because I think scoring has completely went off the rails (I don’t care about scoring itself, either, but it has changed the variation in playing styles and the feel of the game). I just don’t see why this is a topic. The topic should be whether the injection of star power can lead to a long term change in the economics of women’s pro basketball. My bet is no, for various reasons (partly having to do with Mens pro ball and consumer fatigue) but time will tell. I do think there’s a good chance that the women will get a raise-maybe about double the max salary. Time will tell whether I’m completely wrong and wnba players are regularly making seven figure yearly salaries in ten years. I just don’t see how the economics gets there from where it’s currently at.

Not even worth a troll here. Women’s ball is on an upswing already (even though I haven’t watched). The question is how much that upswing will be, how durable will it be, etc. Some ppl like yourself psychologically need the women’s game to be irrelevant. I don’t watch, but I’m not in that camp and feel any type of way whether Clark earns 300k/year in her next contract, or 30 million per year.

The only reason why women's college ball is more popular than the men's is because any man that's even half way decent is one and done, leaving to the NBA. It's not like it used to be in the old days, where guys like Kareem would stay in college all 4 years, even though he could have obviously gone pro way before. To me, the question is a simple one: will CAitlin Clark make the WNBA must see TV? I'd be stunned if anyone watches. I've said it before and I'll say it again: women's ball is simply boring. More than any other sport, basketball is ruled by physical freaks. How many people could jump in the air and in mid air grab the ball with the other hand and lay it up on the other side of the rim like MJ did in the Finals? How many people can take off from the free throw line and posterize a defender? The women jump 1" off the floor and make nice layups. Until that changes, you simply won't get views.
