Yep. Counts down in twos from 60 to 12 (六十,五十八,五十六, so on and so forth) Once it gets to ten (shi), it counts down in ones. 十、九、八、七、六、五、四、三、二、一 And then the alarms sound.

@@CK-sn2lg perhaps on its own, but after waking up with the windows being shattered and the roof buckling while that siren sounds once or twice (I was 10 or so at the time), my brain does a good job at filling in the urgent terror. At the time, I lived between several sirens, so the distant warbling wail was cycling chaotically, from all directions. It's quite effective at scaring one shitless. When I got my own place, one of my requirements was that it have a basement. I'm in eastern MO, I spent about 8 hours down in my basement during the tornado spam last week. Fortunately, I only lost a few trees and a window this time.

Fun Fact: You know how people say, "When your alarm goes off and you pause the video and it doesn't stop...." That happened to me, well kinda. I paused it at the beginning because I wanted to show my friend, and it went off. And I thought, "hey, I thought I paused it..." Only to realise it wasn't coming from the video..... It was coming from my device.

I feel like Japan is so scary, like it doesn't sound like it but imagine having a tape and its the last time you saw your family with it playing on the tv with one message. "Take shelter immediately. Nuke inbound." Edit: Switzerland (again) sounds like when children find a fan Later edit: also, there's a clip of it. The person speaking literally says "Please, remember the Great East Japan Earthquake!" Im pretty sure that earthquake claimed about 30,000 lives. Just the fear in his voice got me.

I mean, Japan has like three other sounds they'd use... One being for J-Alert, I think... Another being Jishin (I think that's how it's spelt) which is used in earthquakes among potentially other things if I recall correctly as an actual legitimate alarm sound ...and then a morse-code-wannabe sound in the event of a tsunami to tell Japanese TVs to override power and volume to on and high respectively to get your attention. The one in this video's just the Early Earthquake Warning alarm.

The U.S. EAS is actually really scary in my opinion. Not in a "this is frightening" way but in a "holy fuck I'm going to die" existential kinda way. It's chilling to me. Even when it's just a warning, I feel as if I'm going to get blown to shreds by an asteroid or something.

Canada should be 10/10. And here’s why: One time back in 2014 my homie and I were hanging out while my parents were at a concert. They bought us a whole bunch of snacks and left us to play video games all night. We went to bed very late but we’re woken up just before 2 o’clock in the morning. My parents were on the way home, because the venue where the concert was being held was pretty far away. We were woken by the Canada sound and it was on my phone about an active shooter. The shooter was only 4 blocks away. So not only were we scared to shit because we were awake at 2 o’clock, but the thing we were warned about was only 4 blocks away.
